We
did something at one of our youth conferences that turned out fabulous. I invited several
adults to come to the conference as a character from the BOM. They were
assigned to choose one character, study his/her life and the impact he/she had whether for
good or evil and to dress as he/she thought that character would dress. They then
attended the conference and mingled with the youth. the youth were instructed to ask
them questions and to try and discover which BOM character they were. At the closing
program of the conference each of these characters revealed to the youth who they were and
bore testimony of the impact of that person. It was soooo good. I'll never forget
one mother who chose to be a mother of a stripling warrior. Her testimony was so powerful
and really caused the youth to ponder on their affect on the next generation. We gave
prizes to those who guessed all correctly -- but that was insignificant and only used as a
motivator to participate in the activity.

For the Book of Mormon Youth Conference we
made Liahonas out of small hamster cages...the round ball kind...it was fun and they were
cute... we spray painted them gold, put a dowel rod through them (it was spray painted
gold too) and attached a fancy gold drapery tassel to one end of the dowel rod. Then we
glue gunned decorations...beads and stuff. I have written a play about the Book of
Mormon called Phil and Ned's Excellent Adventure...a spoof of Bill and Ted's Excellent
Adventure which is fun and teaches that the Book of Mormon is for our time. For service we
wrote testimonies in Book of Mormons and included pictures, paired up and
"blitzed" a small town going door to door and handing out the books and sharing
a thought with them. It was very successful and meaningful to the youth. Let me know if
you are interested in the play.
