Stake. (He said he got the original idea from a seminary list posting - the
questions are his!) The kids LOVED it! The purpose is to help the kids become more
familiar with their scriptures. (He based most of the questions on the Seminary
Scripture Mastery list.) We had 9 leaders sit in 3 rows of 3 seats. We used 2 sets of risers and the floor level to give the appearance of the Hollywood Squares. Each leader had a name (written on poster board attached to a string of yarn) hanging around their neck. The names were names of Scripture Heroes. Each leader also held an 8x11 card in their lap with X on one side and O on the other. The Game Show Host held a big mixing bowl with slips of paper containing questions. The youth were split into 2 teams (boys against girls in our case). Each youth had their own set of scriptures with them. Each team chose a leader that would give the final answer. Each team would choose a Scripture Hero to answer their question. The Host drew a question from the bowl - the Scripture Hero answered the question, and the team had to agree or disagree. What made it real fun is that the leaders goofed off and cracked jokes and sometimes gave sly answers. If the team guessed correctly, the Hero would hold up the card with the proper side showing (X or O). 3 in a row won the round. Between rounds we had Scripture Chase Commercials. The individual who won the chase got a chocolate candy tossed to them. (We used Hershey Kisses.) To win they had to jump up from their seat with their scriptures open to the correct spot.
