Mission Conference Dinner

Here is a ditty we used for a mission conference dinner our ward hosted. It was around Thanksgiving though so you may have to modify the idea a bit. We decorated the tables with mini 8" pumpkins, fall colored M&M's sprinkled around and scattered fall leaves we collected from outside. We attached this poem I wrote to the pumpkins with raffia and then underneath a few napkins (the same number that we had pumpkins) we stamped one little acorn.

We want to share with you this treat
Your Christ like service is so sweet.
You serve the Lord in all you do
So this pumpkin is our gift to you.
Take it home to have or carve
Or make a pie if you are starved.
So which of all here wins the prize?
The answer's right before your eyes.
If near your place a nut you see
You're the one, so please take me.

(Hint: The "NUT" is not your companion)

It was so fun to watch them find who got the gift. I kept thinking of them as if they were my sons or daughters and someone was out there taking care of them for me. When the luncheon was over the highlight for me was that the entire mission stood, faced us and sang Called to Serve Him.  WOW, what a neat spirit.
