C.H.I.C.K.'S NIGHT OUT

Contributed by Mesia Murphy, Plain City, Ut (9/15/05)

We are having a C.H.I.C.K's night out with the mothers.  Chicks stands for "Chosen heirs inherit Celestial Kingdom".  We are going to start out with a short lesson on proper make-up, meaning not too much just right "The natural look." then I have a Lady showing 3 cute hair styles that can be worn to church and school.  Then I have a short lesson on Mormon etiquette, meaning how to say the prayer properly, don’t chew gum while speaking in sacrament, when you say a prayer for a group go up to the front of the room and stand.  These are some of the things we have noticed in our ward that seem to have been forgotten, we are also going to address the issue of proper attire to wear to church, not modesty dress that’s not the problem it's the flip flops and the sweatshirts or t-shirts worn with jean skirts, how do we dress when we have and interview with a member of the priesthood or what is appropriate attire when attending the temple, funerals and weddings.  We feel like the standard of dress for these types of situations has been forgotten and that we have all become to "casual".  As leaders we are singing the song "Daughter of a King" by Jenny Phillips.  I have then put together a short picture video I have pictures of all the moms when they were teenagers and then a current photo of their daughters.   I will then close with a short talk on what CHICKs really stands for and what it means to be a chosen heir.

Thank  you to everyone for sharing their ideas.  Its wonderful to see a group of women who are all striving to provide the best for their Heavenly Fathers young women.
