Worldwide Celebration

| Submitted by: Stargret in AZ dacfrau@nc.prestige.net (Added 9/17/00) I serve
as 1st Counselor in our YW's program. We have decided we are going to set up a display of
the YW's projects during Sacrament. We are also going to be taking pictures of the YW as
they work on their projects. The pictures will be displayed with their projects. This will
help for those YW that may have chose to do a service, musical talent, etc that would not
be able to be displayed. The YW presidency will make scrapbook pages for the YW to display
with their projects, which the YW will keep for their scrapbooks. For that same Sacrament,
some of the YW will give talks on the theme - Stand As A Witness and all the YW will sing.
We are very excited about this and keep coming up with more ideas as we start to plan
it. (See Sacrament Meeting
Presentation ) June Guymon scarlett@bridgernet.com We are doing something a little different this year since our Stake is doing a Worldwide Celebration. On the Sunday that the YW do their Sacrament Meeting Presentation, we are going to have the YW display their projects so that everyone in the ward can appreciate them. This means that their won't have to be an extra meeting, but that the girls still get to show off what they have accomplished. Submitted by: Patty in Michigan Here's a "brief" outline of what we are doing! Due to many calendaring issues in our stake we are combining our Worldwide Celebration with our annual YW Conference toward the end of October. The day will begin at 10am with an opening meeting. The Conference portion of the day will be casual dress, the evening program will be Sunday dress. We are asking everyone to wear a Value color t-shirt during the day. Our theme for the conference is "Sister to Sister...Heart to Heart". There will be 2 morning seminars, then we will break for lunch. We have a wonderfully, talented sister in our stake that does catering and she is doing both our luncheon and dinner. In the afternoon there will be 4 additional seminars and a "cookie break"! They are going to do the journal jars, make lip gloss, and have a choice of several other classes. As a part of the day, we may do the short musical entitled "Five" by Michael McLean. They want the YW to be able to take something with them from each class and are using a heart idea for handouts. By the end of the day each YW will have a "heart" for each of the values. During the day we are going to take a group photo and then go do 1 hour developing so the girls have the photo to take with them at the end of the day. The conference portion of the day will end at 4pm. Our YM have their conference on the same day and will join us at 5pm for a dinner. Following the dinner, the parents and young men will join us as we celebrate the life of our Savior. We are already working on music for the evening and are using the As Sister's in Zion/We'll Bring the World His Truth song, along with I Know That My Redeemer Lives and Christy Hinkson's music. We are also utilizing musically talented YW in our stake. We will have a harpist, flutes, etc... A slide presentation is being put together with the music and we are also going to be making slides of our young women throughout this year by visiting their wards on Mutual night as they work on personal progress. As I read Sis. Nadauld's spring message, I was deeply moved by her account of the YW Choir and feel that our young women will have this same type of experience as we present the touching accounts of the Savior's life. I am blessed to work with women of such a spiritual magnitude both in my presidency and in the Wards/Branches in our stake. We are seeking the help of the Lord in every aspect of this wonderful celebration and so far He has not let us down! |
