For our Worldwide celebration I had a friend of mine cut out a doll
from a 1 inch board. The head and body are connected then she cut out 2 legs and 2 arms.
We drilled a hole by each shoulder and one each at the bottom of the body where the legs
go. We also drilled holes at the top of each arm and leg. Then I got some twine and tied
the arms and legs to the bodies. This made the arms and legs so they could move. I used
that same twine to make the hair.
I got this suggestion from this list. I made 1 doll for each
ward/branch in our stake. Then each ward/branch leaders were to either use this doll as a
pattern to cut out a doll for each of the YW in their unit or they were to make another
doll for each of the girls. Then every time they had an activity that had something to do
with the theme they would help the girls make something that represented that activity.
For example, if they did a service project, the color for
good works is yellow, they could make a yellow dress for the doll. Or if they committed
themselves to reading the Book of Mormon completely through they could glue a small book
in the dolls hand. They can make these things or they can get some of these things at
Hobby Lobby or Wal-mart.
Then when we have our WW celebration each ward/branch are
going to display their dolls on a table and have 1 yw show and tell what they did and what
they learned about standing as a witness.
