Olympic Ring Cookies

Olympic Ring Cookies

Here's a great way to teach and taste the Olympic Rings.

1. Make up your favorite sugar cookie dough and roll it flat.

2. Use a large round cookie cutter (or the top of a drinking glass) to press out 4-inch cookies. Then use a smaller glass or cap-top to cut 2-inch holes in the centers of the cookies. Set the centers aside--this is a little like ending up with donut holes, you can mix them back into the dough or bake them separately.

3. Using a sharp knife, make a single slice on one side of each ring.

For each cookie, hook one cookie ring through another to resemble the Olympic rings.

4. You can decorate the cookies with sprinkles-- or--beat one egg yolk with ¼ teaspoon of water and add food coloring--using a different food coloring for each ring. Dip a clean paintbrush in the mixture and paint the rings.

5. Bake in a 350° oven for eight minutes or until golden.
