in Utah Smilnthru@aol.com Our theme this year for YW has been S.T.A.R - stand for
truth and righteousness . Our YWIE will start out with a skit patterned after "The Weakest Link". We're having the
Beehive girls do a "mormon-ad" commercial in the middle of the skit - something
along the lines of Irish Spring soap - "clean as a whistle". We have two Laurels
that are doing their Laurel project by interviewing/videotaping parents of the YW and
finding out how they "stood for truth and righteousness" this year. For our
closing song, the Laurel girls will be performing (as soloists and as a choir) the song
that can be downloaded for free at www.defordmusic.com
called "I'll Stand As A Witness of Christ" .

We are doing a theme around being a Star--a
Spoof of the Academy Awards that I picked up off the web--The girls will dress as stars at
a great big dress up time we will do an hour before the program. We introduce the main
themes in the YW program and then the categories are the values -YW who completed their
project under that value come up and say a few words (what the project is and how it helped
them develop that value in their life) and receive an award. Also, the ones who are doing
a talent do so at that time. The award is a pillar candle picked up at Pic n Save for 1.99
for 4 in the shape of a star (when viewed from the top) with gold wire with value color
beads wrapped around it.
When that is done, the bishop will do a short talk on the 6
B's (follow the prophet is our theme for the year) and then 2 YW from each class take
a B and bear their testimony of it through personal experience or someone they look up to
who exemplifies that value. Our decorations and treats are all star shaped.

Along with the Star theme, I saw something
here a few days ago that used the acronym, S T A R as "Stand for Truth and
Righteousness", I thought that would go perfect with your theme.
STAR also could stand for: Standing Together Achieving
Righteousness. We used it for Girls camp a few years ago
