Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to tonight’s Young Women in Excellence Pageant of Values. We’re happy you could join us for an evening celebrating the beautiful young women of the Lakeridge 2nd Ward and celebrating the values which they learn and live.

We’d like to begin with an opening song: "True to the Faith," page 254

_______ is our accompanist and _______our chorister

Opening prayer will be given by: Sis. ________, Stake YW President

A special welcome to our honored guests -- All of you wonderful Parents, Bishop and his counselors and our Stake Young Women’s Presidency

I’d like to introduce all of our Young Women leaders....______

On the back of your program are short messages from tonight’s Pageant sponsors -- the following fine Young Women values:

Faith -- Seeds available in fine scriptures everywhere

Divine Nature -- For the best in divine qualities, see Heavenly Father for details

Individual Worth -- Don’t leave home without it!

Knowledge -- Don’t delay, learn today

Choice and Accountability -- Choosy young women choose right

Good Works -- Let your hands and hearts do the walking

Integrity -- Just Do It

Each young women who takes the stage tonight will share with the audience a project which she has completed focusing one at least one of the Young Women values. After the completion of the pageant, we invite you to come up and look at the displays behind you that the girls have made of their project. I want to tell you a story of the son of King Louis XVI of France. As a young man, he was kidnapped by evil men when they dethroned the king. For six months, he was exposed to every filthy and vile thing life had to offer, yet he never buckled under the pressure. This puzzled his captors, and they asked him why he had such great moral strength. His reply was simple: " I cannot do what you ask, for I was born to be a King." Young women, you are daughters of a Heavenly King and have been promised the blessings of royalty if you come unto Christ.

Tonight all these girls are winners and will be crowned -- not with the glory of the world or with outer beauty -- but with their divine potential of becoming queens in the celestial kingdom. Each girl will be given a red rose representing the color of individual worth and will be presented with a quote by Lorenzo Snow that says: "The faithful will be crowned as kings and queens. God bless the Latter-Day Saints and pour out His Spirit upon you. May you be faithful to your God, faithful to your families, and conduct yourselves with prudence in all things, and labor for the interests of the kingdom of God...that we may be found worthy to be amongst those who will be crowned as kings and queens and reign throughout eternity."

The rules for tonight’s pageant are taken from the best rulebook and handbook known to man: the scriptures. Phillipines 1:10 "That ye may approve all things that are excellent" and D & C 18:10 "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God." The only judge tonight is a loving Heavenly Father, who will judge our Young Women candidates on the following criteria: inner beauty, dedication to the gospel, love and service to others, and willingness to choose the right.

And now, let’s get on with the show as some handsome young men escort our lovely ladies down the runway in the categories of talent (which these girls are developing and sharing), in evening gown (or what we like to call modest dress!) and interview (as they tell you about their value project):

-- (One escort per girl, also have them escort off stage)

-- (Have girls go back in and sit with their families as soon as they exit the stage)

-- (Counselors and Advisor come to the stage when your girls are up to "crown" them and hand them the quote and rose.)

-- (Accompany on piano as girls walk down the aisle)

-- (Photographer take picture of girl after she is crowned and given rose and quote)

Our first Miss Excellence candidate is a (Beehive, Mia Maid or Laurel) representing the value(s) of _________. (Girl tells about her value project).

Thank you .

Our next Miss Excellence candidate is.....

We have with us tonight a fabulous speaker. We’re lucky to have her and thank her for taking time out of her busy schedule to be with us tonight (we had Miss Utah, who was LDS,speak on Individual Worth)

(Bio)

My testimony: D & C 18:10 "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God." Tonight each girl is wearing a crown. But there was another person who wore a crown -- a crown of thorns -- our Savior Jesus Christ who loved us so much that he died for us. Tonight each girl was given a red rose symbolizing the value color of individual worth but perhaps also representing the blood Christ shed for our sins. The rose, you might say, is the queen of flowers, each individual and choice. There is symbolism between the rose and our young women – both are creations of our Heavenly Father, and each has a mission to perform to bring beauty and joy to the world. Girls, we all love you, and are so proud of you.

We’ll now turn some time to the Bishop for some final comments.

Let’s bring all of our accomplished young women back up on the stage and give them a big round of applause. I’m tempted to sing "Here they are, Miss Excellence..." but I’ll spare you the pain!

For our closing song, all of the young women will sing "I Am Of Worth" and then Bro....will give our closing prayer and blessing on the refreshments.
