In January, each young woman should choose a value that she would like to focus on during that year, to become a Young Woman of "Faith" or Divine Nature".  The focus isn't the project.  The focus is the Value.

The following information was submitted by Julie in SLC.  These are ideas she came up with to help assist the young women in their value choice.

FAITH
Pay your tithing regularly and attend tithing settlement at the end of the year.  Record your experiences and thoughts that have come your way during this time.

Choose a friend to share the Gospel with, invite him or her to have the Missionary discussions.

Get your family started in FHE.  You may need to be the one to remind weekly and make the assignments.

If you have not read one of the Standard works, do so and record your understanding and testimony as you go along.

DIVINE NATURE

Study and learn about the qualities of Christ.  Choose a few of these qualities you would like to develop in your own life.  Live them and record your change.

Develop and strengthen your understanding of the Holy Ghost and record what prompting come your way and if you acted upon them.

Create a family scrapbook or photo album.

Visit with extended family members and find out your family history.  Ask them about their childhood and teenage years, their struggles and strengthens.

INDIVIDUAL WORTH

Work on your self worth, choose good friends to surround yourself with, read uplifting books and magazines and write down all the positive things you can think about yourself.  Ask family members what they think of you.  Then start living all the positive things about you.

Keep a gratitude journal for several months, and record all the wonderful things that come your way.  Each night or whatever time of day your choose, write down three to five things that you are grateful for that day.

Complete a pedigree chart and work on a family name to do baptism work on.

Send thank you notes to all the people who have touched your life and gifts given to you.  Do this for several months.

Help your family plan a family reunion.

Prepare yourself or a Patriarchal Blessing.  Learn the importance of why they are given, who gives them, and what you can be doing to prepare.

Write and create a book of poems.

KNOWLEDGE

Develop a talent. Dance, cooking, sewing, photography, art, interior design, music, drama, gardening. Perform or display.

Attend Seminary regularly, share what you learned.

Read the lst Presidency message in the New Era each month and apply what you have learned.

Learn to conduct music and conduct in YW.

CHOICE & ACCOUNTABILITY

Learn and study the Standards of Personal Worthiness. Apply them to your life.

As you have challenges come your way, look up a scripture that applies to your challenge and write the scripture down on an index card and start a scripture card file.

In sacrament meeting listen for specific instructions that can help you become a better person. Choose a principle from one of the talks given. Write it down and live that principle for weeks. Do at six times.

GOOD WORKS

Plan and complete an ongoing 3-month service project or three individual projects for your family or friends or YW. Make assignments , accept assignments and carry it out.

Think of a talent you have developed and teach it to a friend or family member. And use this talent to make something and give to someone.

Choose three things you can do to make your home ore pleasant. For example, you could create a flower arrangement, clean an area, make a table decoration, and keep your room clean for a month with out being asked.

INTEGRITY

At the end of each day for several weeks, think about the way you have interacted with people at school, home and church. How would you change if Christ were by your side? During the next several weeks, act as if he were with you as you associate with others. Evaluate your behavior at the end of the day.

Practice being dependable. With a friends, commit for several weeks to begin and complete church, home and school assignments on time and without having to be reminded.

Select a personal behavior that you need to change, such as gossiping, swearing, disobeying your parents, criticizing, or making fun of others. Decide to change that behavior so your life will he in harmony with what you know is right.
