Hi! I recently came
on board the YW program and started a newsletter for the girls. It has been a hit.
In it I have a personal progress section.
I share stories of girls who completed an area, ideas for pp, service
project requests from Relief Society and anything else pertaining to pp. In the "upcoming events" section I also
tell them what the value focus is for the month. And
in the "quote of the month" section I but a quote regarding that pp value focus. Plus, I came up with the following time-table
listed below. (Which the girls loved because it makes it seem easy)
Also, we have a
schedule set for interviews where pp is talked about.
Interviews are done once a month on the first Wednesday activity. Our ward found this more time productive - plus it
was easier on our bishop and youth leaders.
MAKING PERSONAL
PROGRESS OBTAINABLE
The easiest way to obtain our goals is to do two things. The first is
to write the goal down. When we write the goal
down we are more likely to complete that goal.
The second is to set systems in place. Systems
break down the goal helping us to achieve
them.
A PERSONAL PROGRESS SYSTEM
All 7 values contain
6 value experiences and 1 value project. Broken
down into time each value experience takes approximately 1 hour to complete (or 6 x 7=42
hours) and each value project takes approximately 10 hours to complete (or 10 x 7 = 70
hours).
TOTAL HOURS NEED TO COMPLETE
THE PERSONAL PROGRESS PROGRAM = 112 hours.
WANT TO COMPLETE IN
4 YEARS?
Try: 1 hour 2x_s a
month plus 1 extra hour every quarter for 4 years = 112 hours.*
WANT TO COMPLETE IN
3 YEARS?
Try: 1 hour 3x_s a
month for 3 years plus 1 extra hour in June and 1 extra hour in July for the first 2 years
= 112 hours.*
WANT TO COMPLETE IN
2 YEARS?
Try: 1 hour 4x_s a
month plus 2 extra hour every quarter for 2
years = 112 hours.*
WANT TO COMPLETE IN
1 YEAR?
Try: 3 hours 3x_s a month
plus 1 extra hour every quarter for 1 year = 112 hours.*
* Please note if an
experience takes longer than the allotted one hour you will need to make that time up
separately.
