We are taking the YW to the beach for a "Fly United" to support our "Stand as a Witness" theme. Our handout is a travel brochure with a ticket. They are to bring their ticket with them to the activity and when they come to the church they will be given a boarding pass. We are also giving them a list of items to pack (like camp) because we do not want the YW to bring a lot of sugar so we are dealing with YW that are out of control.

We are having the YW meet at the church to begin our flight. At this time we will be providing them with the instructions for the two days. This will include the normal flight instructions of exists, emergency oxygen and that you must help yourself before helping another. We are wanting to tie this portion of the activity to "Faith". We are asking the Stake President (who is the Grandfather of one of our girls and the father of one of the leaders to do this portion, it is also his birthday) and then as we proceed to our vehicles the flight will continue. We have "walkie-talkies" for each vehicle so instructions can be provided throughout the 1-1/2 drive to the coast. Sometime during this period we will be giving the YW their carry on luggage (a small container with items in it, we haven't finalized these yet).

Plan ice breaker activity once we reach the house that we will be staying at.

The rest are ideas that we have come up with (we have not set the program yet), but we are open to any additional ideas or suggestions that you may have:

Integrity - we need an activity which will allow the YW to earn their "Courage to Fly" wings. (We have contacted the airlines to obtain the wings as we live by the Portland Airport).

Individual Worth - we thought we would take the YW to the aggate area and let the girls pick out rocks/shells/etc to bring back to the house. Then we are thinking of having them put all of their items in the center of the table and work together making a picture frame with these items. discussing the individual items represent different people and when they are put together see the impression or image that is accomplished.

We are also going to be taking the black & white photos of each girl to do the photo tinting as our combined activity the next week at the YW Combined Activity to carry the friendship on in our program.

Divine Nature - We were thinking of using the idea of how we change choose to be in Coach or we can Upgrade to 1st Class.  We were thinking of giving them upgraded tickets.

Knowledge - We are going to take the girls to the beach and either divide them in groups or individually give them a kite kit and they are to use their knowledge to build a kite. Then the girls will fly their kites. Our handout for this portion is a kite.

Good Works - We are having the YW report to one of the leaders during the trip with the good deeds that she has done. This leader will decide if the deed qualifies.

Choice & Accountability - We have the choice to get on the plane with the pilot and continue our trip or we can go off on our own. We are thinking of a compass as the handout for this.
