"Shoots & Latters"

Contributed by: Liz Boyd liz.boyd@cox.net (Updated 3/25/08)

We did our New Beginnings based off of the game "Chutes and Ladders" but changed it to "Shoots and Latters".  We created a game board mimicking this child's game.  The "Shoots" were standards broken while the "Latters"  were those things Latter-day Saints should be doing (These were listed on cards in two piles, one for "shoots" and one for "latters").  The game pieces were the girls themselves, while the dice throwers were their parents.  This helped to emphasize the importance and influence of the parents of our youth.  The  game board was drawn on a king-sized sheet with permanent sharpie markers.

Of course, this activity could be used for a regular activity night as well.  Both the youth and leaders (including the bishopric members in attendance) joined in on the fun!
