- Julee Hagerson hagerson@hotmail.com We are doing a "New Nauvoo" theme for our New Beginnings
this year, commemorating the rebuilding of the Nauvoo temple that will be completed and
dedicated this year. There are lots of ways to tie this in with the theme of
"Standing in Holy Places", such as pointing out that sometimes we must build our
own holy places to stand in, even in the face of great adversity, as with the Nauvoo. You
can even refer to the events of September 11th and the need to rebuild physically and
spiritually in the aftermath of great destruction. We are decorating with the
décor of
"Old Nauvoo" and the girls are presenting the seven values in the spirit of the
"New Nauvoo" by having a fashion show where they model each value, using
clothing and props as symbols of the value. They will be posing like the statues of the
women at the Nauvoo Visitors Center and an emcee will describe what each girl represents.
There are lots more things you can do with this theme. We thought it was a fun idea and
thought we'd share it. :)
