Note from Amy Daniels

We had
our activity a few weeks ago and it was very successful! I ran
out of time to use the girls pictures on the invitations, but I'd
loved the idea. We decorated in black and white, with the
exception of colored balloons for the values. We followed the
outline pretty close. Although we weren't able to do the "high
tech" stuff for the new incoming beehives/agents. We just held up
a picture that they provided. The skit was great. We really
hammed it up and the head agent was terrific. She did the army
crawl, a somersault and hid under a table, just to name a few of
her delivery techniques :) The video of the dads was hysterical.
It was a surprise for all. At the end of the evening we sang a
song and played a video slide show of the girls on their "secret
missions" (activities throughout the year.) We had brownies and
ice cream for refreshments. Everyone LOVED it!

We did it just this week, and it
turned out great! We decorated with the long tables like a board
room. There was a desk up front (the oblong wooden table from our YW
room). We brought in an office phone, executive chair....all the
goodies that made it look like an important executive's desk. We
hung a large world map on the wall and had a couple of large plants
as well.
We decorated the tables with value colored table cloths. We had
toyed with the idea of doing a cake - with the Mission Possible
picture that I got from this group on it, but decided to keep it
simpler. The treats were on the tables, like snacks during the
meeting. Water bottles for everyone, and Clementine oranges and
packages of M&M's and peanuts scattered along the table. Each place
also had a colored folder with the music to the songs we were
singing inside it. This "folder" theme, went along with the
invitations: we made mini-folder invitations that said "Top Secret"
on the outside. Each girl's name was on the top tab part of the
folder for the invitation.
Everyone really liked the "Bad Guys" video that was suggested in the
Mission Possible program we adapted our night from. The new Beehives
were introduced with their photos put on an overhead projector.
We also used the song on Sally DeFord's site that she wrote for this
year's theme. "Search Diligently, Pray Always." It is BEAUTIFUL!
Hope this helps you!

One year we did this and the
girls wanted to do a special entrance into the room (New Beginnings)
to start the evening. The room was dark to start with. Flashlight in
hand they entered one at a time prowling like spy's, darting here
and here with their trench coats and spy glasses to the theme music
of Mission Impossible. It was really quite fun.
We did one that was based on a Mission Possible theme
called "Operation Personal Progress" that was really fun. We did
a short skit and then broke the girls into age groups to actually work
on a personal progress goal there. We made Secret Agent/detective
name badges for each of them. A member of the bishopric did the head
detective. We let the girls and parents in one at a time to
maintain "secrecy". The girls loved it, especially accomplishing a
goal that night. The Laurels who have already completed their
medallion or are working on just projects could help in the classes.
