It has been so wonderful as we've attended the different wards New
Beginnings to see what they've done with this theme. We have been doing
a presentation at each NB's to introduce this theme. We set up a table
with various lamps on it. We have 13 altogether. I made a sign to
go on each lamp that has a torch on it and a word underneath. There are
12 "ways" the YW can light the torch within, one to focus on each month
of the year. They are: Music, Personal Progress, Family, Prayer,
Missionary Work, Scripture Study, Spirituality, Faith, Self Reliance,
Femininity, Mutual and Testimony. The paper I printed it on was Vellum
so the light shines through. We turn out all of the lights in the room.
We have a script and we take turns saying, "We can light the torch of...
and add one of the above words to it. We have chosen a scripture to go
with each of the 12 focuses and we read it at that point. We turn on one
lamp for each one as we read it. At the end the Stake YW's Pres. talks
about how the Olympics are coming to Utah next month and the world will
be watching us. She talks about being a standard for all and
exemplifying the gospel light and the light of Jesus Christ. The whole
point of our theme is that if the YW will incorporate these 12 tools
into their lives it will bring them closer to the Savior. We end with a
song played on a tape. I think it's by Afterglow. Anyway, I hope this
all makes sense. It's been wonderful and we've had many compliments on
the presentation.Personal Progress
