Here is a New Beginning we did. This is one
you have to decide to do a year in advance because it takes planning. We
narrated this with slides of the girls. The parents loved it, it
explained the YW program and the girls loved seeing themselves. You
could change it to fit your ward.

The Mission statements for each class helps us develop spiritually. The
mission statement for the Beehives is: A Beehive becomes a Young Woman
of truth as she follows the prompting of the Holy Ghost, seeks truth and
strives to live and share it. She is represented by a YW in

family.......................(A YW dressed in white in front of the
temple or temple picture)
SING THE SONG "THE TEMPLE REMINDS ME"
As we enter young Women we are given our Personal Progress books.
Through the six years we are in Young Women we choose values and do an
experience or project for that value. As we set the goals and accomplish
them the values become a part of our lives and we set habits that will
stay with us as we progress through our lives and into
ETERNITY..................(a YW with her Personal Progress book.)
After we complete 28 goals through two years we receive our class award.
When we earn all three class awards we receive our Young Woman Hood
Recognition. This is represented by a necklace that is worn with pride
by YW all over the world as she becomes a Young Women of Promise. I'm
looking forward to the day I receive...................(A Laurel
receiving an award)
We have great teachers that help us learn the Gospel each Sunday. They
are helping us to increase and gain a testimony of the gospel of Jesus
Christ......................................(a picture of a class being
taught)
We have weekly activities that are planned with a
purpose..............(a picture of a class activity in progress)
That means that they are planned with a
value..............................(more pictures of a class activities)
We also try to plan activities to reinforce our Sunday
lessons.................(more pictures of class activities)
We try a least once a month to give service. We have learned that
Heavenly Father helps others and answers prayers through us. We have
learned that true joy come from serving others.......................(an
activity based on service)
Heavenly Father wants us to be spiritual, knowledgeable and physically
fit, we have a choice to participate in sports. It is a fun way to
strengthen relationships with each other. Those that aren't into sports
are great supporters.............(a picture taken of sport being played)
Camp is a great way to learn about our Heavenly Fathers creations and to
learn many skills of survival, first aid, and living without make up,
check these babes out.............(pictures of camp)
We as young women are actively engaged in the three fold mission of the
church. REDEEM THE DEAD: our activity we had of doing baptisms for the
dead was a very spiritual one for me..................(A girl coming out
of the temple)
PERFECT THE SAINTS: We are learning to become future leaders of Young
Women, Relief Society, and Primary..............(Laurel President
conducting a meeting)
New Beginnings is held at the first of the year. It helps us focus on a
new year and a chance for us to help our parents and Priesthood leaders
learn about the Young women's program. Here we can recognize us as young
women and plan the seed for the
year..................................(Picture of New Beginnings the
year before) ((you have to really plan ahead))
Our standards night helped us to focus on the moral issues of
life.......................(picture of a speaker at standards night)
At the first of the year we pick a value that we feel we want more in
our lives this is the planting of the seed. We pick a project that will
help us internalize that value and work on it through the year. Young
Women in Excellence is the Harvest of the seed. This is where we share
our projects with other young women, our leaders, our parents and the
Priesthood leaders....................(pictures taken at Young Women in
Excellence)
When we participate in the Young Women program with the help and support
of our parents we learn to accept and act upon the values, prepare to
make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the ordinances of the
temple, and enjoy the blessing of exaltation. We are as a Star rising to
eternal exaltation. ..........................(A picture of Christ)
We are the RISING GENERATION!!!!!!!!! (We played this song and while it
was playing we showed slides of each of the girls one by one that we had
taken on Sunday out side of the Church, we finished with a group picture
of all of the Young women and leaders and then a Picture of Christ.)
This can be tailored to your Young women's group. It is an idea you
could use. Instead of slides if you don't have the equipment you could
have the girls themselves pose as a still life for each one. Or you
could make a video. The sky is the limit.
