have no lesson plan to share with you, but think I will do a handout on being spiritually
fed. I am thinking of a Mormonad that goes something like this, have you been spiritually
fed today and has a picture of a cereal box and the Scriptures. I think I will attach the
handout to a mini cereal box. I got this idea after reading this quote by our prophet.
"I think our people know a lot about the Word of Wisdom, they know a lot about paying
their tithing, they know a lot about MIA, and they know a lot about seminary and they know
a lot about the mechanics of our meetings. But I worry and am deeply concerned about
whether they are being fed spiritually. That's my deepest concern." -- President
Gordon B. Hinckley From priesthood leadership session, Corpus Christi Texas Regional
Conference, Jan. 6, 1996.
I like this quote, We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we're spiritual
beings having a human experience.
I might use these ones too :
Spiritual Vitamins A to Z
If there is righteousness in the heart,
there will be beauty in character,
there will be harmony in the home;
If there is harmony in the home,
there will be order in the nation;
if there is order in the nation,
there will be peace in the world.

I have asked the girls to bring a picture of their room and an object that represents
something uplifting to them. We will follow the lesson and talk about the physical
environment. There is a story about a young girl named Camille who admired a certain boy
and wanted to date him. Looking at him from afar he appeared to be an ideal boy. A girls
choice dance seemed a perfect time to get to know him better. She and all the girls in her
group decided on clever ways to invite the boys. She made an invitation to be put aside
his bed for him to find that night as he retired. She went to his home and explained her
needs and asked for permission from his mother to leave the invitation in his room.
As she opened the door, she detected a faint odor of gym shoes. Her eyes widened as she
got a complete look. His mother had warned her so she shouldn't have been surprised, but
she was. Her room wasn't always ready for company either, she told herself, so she
shouldn't judge. As she bent down by the bed to leave the invitation, she saw some
magazines. She thought she was open minded, but these magazines made her do a double take.
Emabrrased, she looked around to get her eyes off the magazines and noticed a couple of
posters. They were not appropriate. She was confused and embarrased. In those brief
minutes her admiration for him plummeted. She realized besides the mess he lived with, the
things he kept close to him in his room were the things often on his mind. She knew she
wouldn't be comfortable with him on a date. What could she do now ? All she could think
off was to grab a piece of paper and jot a quick note about coming by to see him. She
clutched her invitation and made a hasty retreat.
If someone, whose admiration you would like, came into your room, what impression would
they leave with ?
We just introduced the theme Stand Ye in Holy Places on our New Beginnings last Wednesday
and I will try and make a point out of our homes being holy places if we can invite the
spirit of the Lord to dwell there.
