THE LORD IS MY LIGHT THROUGH SCRIPTURE STUDY

Scripture Scramble: Cut a scripture into phrases and give each team an identical set. The strips are dumped on the floor or on a desk. At your signal they begin to put it together. The first team to assemble the words in the correct order and write the reference on the chalkboard wins.

Balloon Bust:

MATERIALS NEEDED:

Balloons: 10 per team

One Book of Mormon

Scripture clue strips

Chair

POINTS: 30 TEAM POINTS FOR THE PRIZES.

Two points are given for correct reference and two points for finding the scripture. A total of 4 points are possible for each balloon so there are a total of 40 points.

Written clues from the bookmark have been inserted into balloons. You will need a set of balloons for each team participating.

A student has 1 minute to earn 4 points for the team. At your signal, he/she runs to the chair in front, picks up the balloon, blows it up and sits on it till it breaks. Reads the clue aloud that was inside, states aloud the reference (2 points if correct) at which time the other team members may either confirm the reference given or correct him. If the reference was wrong and the team had to correct him 1 point is given for reference instead of 2 and he can still earn another 2 points for chasing. The student then races back to his seat and finds the scripture in the book and raises hand. (2 points) If time runs out before he finds the scripture he does not get the 2 points for chasing but may still receive the points for reference.

Keep track of the points earned by each participant and enter the total on the team scorecard.

Gather all the clue strips on floor up before the next team begins so they don't pick up wrong clues by mistake.

Bubble Gum Handout

Daily scripture study is lots of fun.
Especially when you are chewing gum!
Just read along as you chew,
When the flavor is gone, your reading is through.

Scripture Chasing

I remember an idea someone posted some time ago about "handicapping" the faster chasers by having them wear gloves! I thought this sounded great and even bought some $1.00 knit stretch gloves (the one-size-fits-all variety) to have in my closet. Usually the kids who are fast chasers really revel in challenges, so maybe this would work.

(Wouldn’t it be fun to invite the bishop to play and make him wear gloves??????)
