am using the "His Image" (What Do You See)
also the video from FHE supplement. It is video #2 -segment #8 "What think ye of
Christ?" The first part is only 3 min 45 sec then Elder Dallon H. Oaks speaks for 1
min 25 sec. I think I will use this video as an attention getter instead of the first
story. I think everyone has heard the story before.
I will use "Always My Friend," New Era, Mar. 2000, 7 and parts of the other two
recommended articles. I have a YW who is having a hard time right now- her grandfather
died and she is feeling insecure as to how or if she fits in. I want her to realize that
our Savior is always our friend and we can always go to him. I was going to use "His
Image" and the statement by William R. Bradford together at the end and have the
girls do what it says. I will ask if anyone has seen it before to not tell what it is so
the others can experience it for the first time. I am going to make the point of how they
had to put in some effort to see Christ in the "His Image" and tie it into the
door without a door knob picture. That we need to put in the effort to really know/see
Him.
I may use the story suggestions given by someone about the boy wondering if Jesus was
knocking inside him when he heard his heart beating ( See below). And he one
about the auction of the art treasures - The Son.

I really hope that the girls will feel that Jesus is the
best friend they could have ! These are only ideas, I always teach from the manual but
maybe I'll have time to include these stories...
In the lesson manual it suggests that we show the picture Christ knocking at the door. I
found this cute story that goes along with this picture.
A nurse on the pediatric ward, before listening to the little one's chests, would plug the
stethoscope into their ears and let them listen to their own hearts. Their eyes would
always light up with awe, but she never got a response equal to four-year old David's
comment. Gently he tucked the stethoscope into his ears and placed the disk over his
heart. "Listen," she said. "What do you suppose that is?" He drew his
eyebrows together in a puzzled line and looked as if lost in the mystery of the
tap-tap-tapping deep in his chest. Then his face broke out in a wondrous grin and he
asked, "Is that Jesus knocking?"
I want to build on the feelings the girls had of Christ growing up. If they remember
thinking of him when they were scared etc. Christ loved the
children and he loves the YW !
A little boy was afraid of the dark. One night his mother told him to go out to the back
porch and bring her the broom. The little boy turned to his mother and said, "Mama, I
don't want to go out there. It's dark."
The mother smiled reassuringly at her son. "You don't have to be afraid of the
dark," she explained. "Jesus is out there. He'll look after you and protect
you."
The little boy looked at his mother real hard and asked, "Are you sure he's out
there?"
"Yes, I'm sure. He is everywhere, and he is always ready to help you when you need
him," she said.
The little boy thought about that for a minute and then went to the back door and cracked
it a little. Peering out into the darkness, he called, "Jesus? If you're out there,
would you please hand me the broom?"
Reminding them of lesson 1 we taught last week, I might share this story as well - The Son:

I taught lesson number 2 today--Coming to Know the Savior. I basically followed
along with the manual, then I played the song, "Never a Better Hero" by Kenneth
Cope. This is what brought tears to my little Beehives! I was such a proud mom (pre
say). Then I gave each of then a handout of "His Image". After they closed their
eyes, trying to see what the image would be, all of a sudden I could see tears rolling
down the cheeks of them again. What a great lesson to start off the new year in classes!
