Clean hands and a Pure Heart - Marvin J. Ashton asks these questions:

"How do we measure up? D&C 137:7, 9 - the Lord will judge all men according to their works, according to the desire of their hearts.

Are we honest in Heart? An honest heart will lead to a change of Heart (Mosiah 5:2) A heart without pretenses, without hypocrisy. Reliable in word and action with no hidden agenda to deceive or misrepresent facts.

Pure in Heart - is a willing heart. "the Lord [requireth] the heart and a willing mind" (D&C 64:34) Do we desire to please the Lord, to serve Him. Do we serve on the Lord's terms, not ours; with no restrictions on how and when we will serve. Are we willing to give time, energy, and effort? Do we serve with all our hearts, might, mind, and strength?

An Understanding Heart - is a loving heart. We come closest to becoming Christlike when we are charitable and understanding of others. "Charity beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things (1 Cor. 13:7 and a "Change" of Heart? Christlike love must be continuous."

I like that thought - "continuous". We continually improve and progress (hopefully) and in doing so become more like Christ. The gospel does change hearts - changes our hearts so that we want to become more pure, kind and loving to those around us. The gospel brings love into our hearts - so much so that we even have love in our hearts for those who have hurt us. Love in our hearts for people we don't know. The gospel brings "light" and warmth - comfort and Peace.
