I've enjoyed reading all the great ideas for hand outs and
object lessons about chastity. It's such an important lesson for the Young Women and I
felt really humble when I prepared to teach the lesson. I had the challenge of teaching a
joined class. ( I'm thinking of the age difference between a 12 year old and 17 year old.
)So my hand out was kind of innocent. It said " Don't kiss all the frogs while
searching for your Prince !"
I found some cute clip art at www.graphicgarden.nu
( web set is called Pond ) and here in Norway we have candy shaped like frogs, I don't
know if you'd be able to get anything similar. They taste really sour, which I made a
point of.I also told them about how they cook frogs. They are still alive when you put
them in a kettle, then you turn the heat up but the frogs don't notice. They
think everything is just fine. Gradually the heat rises and at the end starts to boil and
that's it for the frogs :-) We talked a lot about where the limit goes and
precautions they can make not to get in a difficult spot. We had a good dialogue and the
girls were talking about the frogs and giggling after the lesson standing in the hall
waiting for Sunday School to start. I hope they will keep the lesson in mind in the
future. I know they will be tempted in time to come and I pray they will have the courage
to stand for truth and righteousness.

I just taught lesson #33 (Sacred Power
of Procreation). I used several ideas posted to this list (sorry I didn't keep a
copy of the posts to give proper credit - but thank you to those who helped me!) The
object lesson I used was with a pencil. You put a pencil on the table and as you
push the pencil tip closer to the edge you talk about all the temptations that girls might
give in to (dating before 16, single dating, kissing too much or too early before you know
the boy, etc...) Then when the pencil finally fell, I said, you
might think you would never go THAT far or "that could never happen to me" but
if you get close to the edge - you never know when you'll fall. Stay far away from
the edge and you'll be safe. Follow the prophet's counsel - and the pamphlet For the
Strength of the Youth, etc...
I also told the story about how you cook frogs. If you put frogs in a pot of boiling
hot water, they'll jump right out. But if you put them in and slowly turn up the
heat, they won't notice it and eventually they'll be boiling and ready to eat.
Satan works the same way. He lures you - especially in today's world -
in tiny steps that you hardly notice - watching R movies or inappropriate shows on TV,
magazines, etc...
The handout I gave them was some chocolate kisses in those snack bags (you could include
some of those gummi sour frogs too if you can find them). I stapled a paper across
the top that included clipart of frogs and this poem that I wrote:
If for your handsome prince you search
Remember what you learned in church,
There's LOTS of FROGS who'll want a KISS!
But SAVE YOURSELF and give him this!
