(This is an old
contribution from the LDSYW File that I kept but do not know who
submitted it)
I taught this lesson and I used the saying, O what a tangled web we
weave when first we practice to deceive. I had situations typed on cards
that might entangle us. Then with each situation that was read I wrapped
a long piece of yarn around the girls...
By the end everybody was tangled. I talked about how even little lies
and things would help Satan to trap us. I talked about how Christ wants
us to be free. Then took the yarn off of them. I also hung a piece of
black paper on the board and a white one next to it. I said, "Jesus
wants us to know that there is a difference between right and wrong, it
is very black and white. Then I hung a gray paper up in between the
black and white. Then talked about how Lucifer want us to believe that
the gray area is ok too, but it is not. Look at how big the black and
gray area has become. This is a tool that he often uses to get us to his
side. Thank goodness for repentance!
I used spider gummies in a bag as the hand out. I spread that white
Halloween web stuff around on my table with a couple of plastic spiders.
On the cards they read, I stamped (or stickers) little spiders on them.
It was good, because everyone was involved, The girls like interaction.
The questions were like...
1. You borrowed money out of your mom's purse w/out permission.
2. You cheated on a test at school
3. You lied to the police officer about speeding
4. You told your boss you were sick, so you could go out with your
friends.
5. You lied about your age to get into a movie
6. You bought a dress, intending to only wear it once and then return
it.
7. You wore your sister's clothes without permission.
8. The store attendant did not charge you enough money, you did not
correct them.
I had about 14 cards, each girl read two.
