We just had this lesson taught on Sunday. Our Mia Maid leader did an awesome job. She first talked about butterflies. How they are eggs laid on a leaf, they break out of the egg and are called larva (caterpillar), they form a chrysalis, and then it emerges as a beautiful butterfly. She had gone to the library and found a great book filled with pictures to show as she talked about the life cycle of a butterfly. She then equated this to the plan of exaltation. The Pre-mortal life was when the eggs were laid on a leaf. At that point the butterfly can't have babies just like in the pre-mortal life. We decided to come to earth (earth life) to receive a body (caterpillar or larva) and be able to reproduce. This is when we're tried and tested, and are hopefully obedient and make wise choices. Hopefully the caterpillar chooses a good place to form its chrysalis so it won't be eaten. This is were the caterpillar makes a lot of changes. This change is called metamorphosis. The greatest changes of the whole process of metamorphosis takes place during the chrysalis stage. This is where we make the most changes going through our trials and tribulations. And if we're successful, then we'll emerge as a beautiful butterfly with wings to soar to the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom. It was great because it was a different approach to a typical topic. It really made you think of the similarities between the two. Her hand out said ...The struggle to break out of the cocoon develops the butterfly so it can fly. Without that, the butterfly would never have the strength to become something extraordinary and achieve its destiny. She had talked about the struggle to break out of the chrysalis and how it strengthens the butterfly and prepares it to be able to fly. During all this she incorporated all the other points from the lesson manual (like the diagram on page 110). The girls really seemed to enjoy the lesson. Hopefully this all makes sense. Good Luck
