3 Ne. 17:1-3
1 Behold, now it came to pass that
when Jesus had spoken these words he looked round about again on the multitude, and he
said unto them: Behold, my time is at hand.
2 I perceive that ye are weak,
that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the Father to speak unto
you at this time.
3 Therefore, go ye unto your
homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name,
that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again.
3 Ne. 17:5-7
5 And it came to pass that when
Jesus had thus spoken, he cast his eyes round about again on the multitude, and beheld
they were in tears, and did look steadfastly upon him as if they would ask him to tarry a
little longer with them.
6 And he said unto them: Behold,
my bowels are filled with compassion towards you.
7 Have ye any that are sick among
you? Bring them hither. Have ye any that are lame, or blind, or halt, or maimed, or
leprous, or that are withered, or that are deaf, or that are afflicted in any manner?
Bring them hither and I will heal them, for I have compassion upon you; my bowels are
filled with mercy.
3 Ne. 17:9-13
9 And it came to pass that when he
had thus spoken, all the multitude, with one accord, did go forth with their sick and
their afflicted, and their lame, and with their blind, and with their dumb, and with all
them that were afflicted in any manner; and he did heal them every one as they were
brought forth unto him.
10 And they did all, both they who
had been healed and they who were whole, bow down at his feet, and did worship him; and as
many as could come for the multitude did kiss his feet, insomuch that they did bathe his
feet with their tears.
11 And it came to pass that he
commanded that their little children should be brought.
12 So they brought their little
children and set them down upon the ground round about him, and Jesus stood in the midst;
and the multitude gave way till they had all been brought unto him.
13 And it came to pass that when
they had all been brought, and Jesus stood in the midst, he commanded the multitude that
they should kneel down upon the ground.
3 Ne. 17:15-25
15 And when he had said these
words, he himself also knelt upon the earth; and behold he prayed unto the Father, and the
things which he prayed cannot be written, and the multitude did bear record who heard him.
16 And after this manner do they
bear record: The eye hath never seen, neither hath the ear heard, before, so great and
marvelous things as we saw and heard Jesus speak unto the Father;
17 And no tongue can speak,
neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great
and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the
joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father.
18 And it came to pass that when
Jesus had made an end of praying unto the Father, he arose; but so great was the joy of
the multitude that they were overcome.
19 And it came to pass that Jesus
spake unto them, and bade them arise.
20 And they arose from the earth,
and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is
full.
21 And when he had said these
words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children,
one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.
22 And when he had done this he
wept again;
23 And he spake unto the
multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones.
24 And as they looked to behold
they cast their eyes towards heaven, and they saw the heavens open, and they saw angels
descending out of heaven as it were in the midst of fire; and they came down and encircled
those little ones about, and they were encircled about with fire; and the angels did
minister unto them.
25 And the multitude did see and
hear and bear record; and they know that their record is true for they all of them did see
and hear, every man for himself; and they were in number about two thousand and five
hundred souls; and they did consist of men, women, and children.
John 17:3
3 And this is life eternal, that
they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Mark 10:13-16
13 ¶ And they brought young
children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought
them.
14 But when Jesus saw it, he was
much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and
forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
15 Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter
therein.
16 And he took them up in his
arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
John 13:3-5
3 Jesus knowing that the Father
had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God;
4 He riseth from supper, and laid
aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself.
5 After that he poureth water into
a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith
he was girded.
John 4:5-14
5 Then cometh he to a city of
Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son
Joseph.
6 Now Jacob's well was there.
Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about
the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria
to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone
away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria
unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of
Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto
her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink;
thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir,
thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that
living water?
12 Art thou greater than our
father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his
cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto
her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the
water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall
be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Luke 15:11-32
11 ¶ And he said, A certain man
had two sons:
12 And the younger of them said to
his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto
them his living.
13 And not many days after the
younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there
wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 And when he had spent all,
there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 And he went and joined himself
to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled
his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17 And when he came to himself, he
said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish
with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my
father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be
called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose, and came to his
father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and
ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him,
Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called
thy son.
22 But the father said to his
servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and
shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted
calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and
is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the
field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the
servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 And he said unto him, Thy
brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him
safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not
go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29 And he answering said to his
father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy
commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But as soon as this thy son was
come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted
calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou
art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32 It was meet that we should make
merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and
is found.
Matt. 18:11-14
11 For the Son of man is come to
save that which was lost.
12 How think ye? if a man have an
hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and
goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13 And if so be that he find it,
verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which
went not astray.
14 Even so it is not the will of
your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.
Luke 7:36-50
36 ¶ And one of the Pharisees
desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat
down to meat.
37 And, behold, a woman in the
city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house,
brought an alabaster box of ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind
him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of
her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.
39 Now when the Pharisee which had
bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would
have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
40 And Jesus answering said unto
him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
41 There was a certain creditor
which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to
pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
43 Simon answered and said, I
suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44 And he turned to the woman, and
said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no
water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs
of her head.
45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but
this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not
anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her
sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven,
the same loveth little.
48 And he said unto her, Thy sins
are forgiven.
49 And they that sat at meat with
him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?
50 And he said to the woman, Thy
faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
Mark 6:1-6
1 And he went out from thence, and
came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2 And when the sabbath day was
come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying,
>From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto
him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the
son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his
sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus said unto them, A
prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his
own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty
work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of
their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Luke 19:1-10
1 And Jesus entered and passed
through Jericho.
2 And, behold, there was a man
named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who
he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature.
4 And he ran before, and climbed
up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way.
5 And when Jesus came to the
place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down;
for to day I must abide at thy house.
6 And he made haste, and came
down, and received him joyfully.
7 And when they saw it, they all
murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said
unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken
any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.
9 And Jesus said unto him, This
day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to
seek and to save that which was lost.
Matt. 4:1-11
1 Then was Jesus led up of the
Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty
days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to
him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
4 But he answered and said, It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God.
5 Then the devil taketh him up
into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,
6 And saith unto him, If thou be
the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge
concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash
thy foot against a stone.
7 Jesus said unto him, It is
written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Again, the devil taketh him up
into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the
glory of them;
9 And saith unto him, All these
things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.
10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get
thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only
shalt thou serve.
11 Then the devil leaveth him,
and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
Matt. 26:36-46
36 ¶ Then cometh Jesus with them
unto a place called Gethsemane, and saith unto the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go and
pray yonder.
37 And he took with him Peter and
the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
38 Then saith he unto them, My
soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
39 And he went a little further,
and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup
pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
40 And he cometh unto the
disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me
one hour?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter
not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
42 He went away again the second
time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I
drink it, thy will be done.
43 And he came and found them
asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
44 And he left them, and went away
again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
45 Then cometh he to his
disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at
hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
46 Rise, let us be going: behold,
he is at hand that doth betray me.
Matt. 26:69-75
69 ¶ Now Peter sat without in the
palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
70 But he denied before them all,
saying, I know not what thou sayest.
71 And when he was gone out into
the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This fellow was also
with Jesus of Nazareth.
72 And again he denied with an
oath, I do not know the man.
73 And after a while came unto him
they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them; for thy speech
bewrayeth thee.
74 Then began he to curse and to
swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
75 And Peter remembered the word
of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he
went out, and wept bitterly.
D&C 88:63
63 Draw near unto me and I will
draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
