Lesson l - A Daughter of God

Introduction: Who Are You? - A DAUGHTER OF GOD

I just watched a movie where the daughter had the most wonderful, loving relationship with her father. Some are lucky enough to have this same type of relationship with their father, but there are many who do not. The comforting message from this lesson is that we each CAN have this wonderful relationship with our Father in Heaven. We can look to the Savior for an example of how to have this ideal relationship which in turn will help us have this relationship with our Father in Heaven and our earthy father.

Ask yourself: "How would I describe a Daughter of God"? Do I fit this description? Do I choose to live up to my potential, or have I "chosen" to become a Daughter of Man?

Noah and his sons listened to the Lord and were called the Sons of God (Moses 8:l3). In order to live up to our birthright what must we do?

Are there examples of Daughters of God in the scriptures? Yes.

A Daughter of God will say, "....whatsoever God hath said unto thee, do." (Rachel said this to Jacob - Gen. 3l:l6

Adam and Eve were asked to make sacrifices, but even though "they knew not why", they made these sacrifices. Not just Adam, but also Eve.

A Daughter of God calls upon God for counsel (Moses 5:l6) "And Adam and Eve, his wife ceased not to call upon God..."

A Daughter of God is to Sacrifice. Think of Isaac. Do you think Abraham didn't counsel with his wife? I bet he did. I can imagine them clinging to each other as they made the decision to be obedient together.

Hagar saw and heard God. ..."return to thy mistress and submit thyself under her hands." (Gen l6:9) She received counsel and obeyed though it must have been difficult. In return, she was blessed..."Fear not for God hath heard thy voice of the lad". Hagar placed her trust in the Lord.

A Daughter of God shows appreciation - "Adam and Eve blessed the name of God (Moses 5:l2)even when chasten by the Lord. "Were it not for our transgressions, we never should have had seed....(Moses 5:ll)How many more can you think of? How can we incorporate these examples into our lives to live up to our potential as "Daughter of God"?
