"Welcome
Letter for New Beehives"
|
Dear We are so excited to welcome you into Young Women's! We want to share some information about our program with you and your parents. Purpose of the Young Women Organization The purpose of the Young Women organization is to help you "come unto Christ" (Moroni 10:32). By following the Savior's example and teachings, you can fulfill your mortal mission and return to live with your Heavenly Father. Young Women Theme The Young Women theme helps you understand your identity, purpose, and destiny as a daughter of God. The Young Women and Leaders repeat the theme each Sunday during opening exercises and at other Young Women gatherings. (pg. 6) The Young Women theme supports the 3-fold mission of the Church in the following ways:
Young Women Values The Young Women Values are based on principles of the gospel that have been identified specifically for the needs of young women today. Our Lessons and activities will help you understand these principles, gain your own experience with them and accept them as your personal values. The scripture references will give you insight into the meaning of each value. The colors associated with the values are to help you remember the values.
The Young women Motto is "Stand for Truth and Righteousness" and The Young Women Logo is a torch surrounded by the Young Women Motto. The torch represents the light of Christ, inviting all to "Come Unto Christ" (Moroni 10:32). It invites all young women to hold up the light of Christ by keeping His commandments. Standards of Personal Worthiness (See pg. 9 in Personal Progress Book) You should strive to live the Standards of Personal Worthiness as you prepare to stand as a witness for Christ. Personal Progress Personal Progress is a program that helps you have experiences in living the Young Woman values. The Personal Progress information on how you will implement this program is found on pg. 10-11. It outlines your responsibilities for each age-group you will pass through. It also includes instructions for keeping records and journals. This program is a fun and exciting one that you will want to work with your leaders, parents and other family members in selecting your experiences and projects. Young Women Age-Groups There are three age-groups in Young Women: Beehives (ages 12 and 13) Mia Maids (ages 14 and 15) Laurels (ages 16 and 17) Beehive Purpose Statement: A Beehive becomes a Young Woman of Truth as she follows the promptings of the Holy Ghost, seeks truth, and strives to live and share it. Scripture References: Moroni 10:5 "And by the power
of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." Symbol: a young Woman seeks to know the truth through prayer.
