"Tacky Leadership Party"

Don't know who to give credit to for this idea - but I think it is great and could be used for many teaching situations!

The theme of the night was a "tacky party" - We got invitations 2 weeks in a row. The first invitation was scribbled on notebook papertelling the important details of the night - who, what, when, where. The 2nd week's invitation was on a birthday invitation... the front said "You are invited to a Birthday Party" but Birthday was crossed out. Tacky! Everyone was supposed to wear their tackiest outfit.

So tonight we get there and the decorations were a crack up! Christmas tinsel everywhere, old ceramic things on tables, thecenterpeices were nasty old flowers that didn't match, the tables were set with paper plates of all themes, birthday, Star Wars, pierdc, Christmas, Halloween, etc. Very tacky.

Messages were written all over the blackboards about "please do not push or shove at the buffet table" and "Please do not take thecenterpieces..." etc...

The food was pretty funny... It was a buffet - Pork and Beans out of the can, Jell-O salad, Green Salad (they just left the lettuce intact and you had to tear off your own leaves), tuna casserole, and then dessert was by Hostess.... Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Zingers, etc...

Then there was the program - They had a beauty pageant for the tackiest people and they got prizes ranging from key chains to hangersto feather dusters. Two old ladies did a tap dance. Their accompanist was someone that doesn’t play the piano and she just hummed notes and played a few here and there. Quite hilarious.

Then had a real speaker speak about the importance of planning and follow-up.

It would be a great night for the girls. Everyone came dressed up and really "let their hair down." It was a good chance to be able to laugh at yourself.

Had a great night.... just wanted to share the fun! Wish you all could have been there!
