Bring Them Unto
Christ

I think this is are job to struggle along as we try to make this program
work for our girls as we try to " bring them to Christ" I am by no way an
expert, but have tried the following things to help lead my Laurels in the right
direction, as my other counselors are doing similar things in their presidency meetings.
- We provide them with a presidency meeting outline to follow. It
includes discussing the past month's activities, planning with a purpose etc..
- We discuss the upcoming lesson topics for the upcoming month and
the value of that month and then they try to come up with an activity they would like to
do that would incorporate this message (either or both).
- In the meanwhile we (my counselors and myself) read the ideas
shared from this list. Some times we toss out ideas we have read about. The girls usually
leap right on one of those, sometimes they asks questions, and other times they come up
with their own suggestions. But they make the choice. I just help keep them on track. Then
it becomes THEIR activity.
- Then the president makes assignments as to what is needed from each
girl to make the activity come about. She is also responsible for making the follow up
calls.
- We also discuss our inactives and make a specific course of action
to help activate.
- We then meet as a group, the leaders and the presidents of each
group and discuss what we all have planned. This gives me, as the YW president, the chance
to make notes and know what everyone is doing. Then of course, at BYC we inform the
bishop(ric) of any special things that need approval.
Lastly, did I mention that this is in a perfect world. This is
what we try to do each month. They forget to follow up or wait until the last minute
sometimes. I do wind up doing the bulk of the work sometimes, but I keep plugging along.
