Here's the correlation that will be drawn between the items collected for physical survival and the FTSOY standards:

bullet Matches...One of the most important decisions you will make in your life has to do with the person you "match" up with in marriage. Proper dating is part of that preparation for a temple marriage. Date only those who have high standards, who respect your standards and in whose company you can maintain those high standards. Avoid going to those places that would place temptation in your path.

bullet Clothing - Not only does clothing provide protection from the elements but it also sends messages about you to others.   Dress in such a way as to bring out the best in yourself and those around you. Immodest clothing includes tight fitting or revealing clothes, off-the-shoulder or low-cut clothing, short shorts, and extremes in clothing. We show respect for the Lord in the way we dress

bullet Popcorn...Being a good friend and surrounding yourself with good friends can bring you great happiness as you strengthen and encourage one another. Just like this popcorn that can be popped and enjoyed now or planted and harvested later, the friends you have today are lots of fun, but think about how much joy you could have in your life if you share the gospel with your non-member friends and plant seeds that can allow them to enjoy what you're enjoying tonight!

bullet Aspirin...Don't give yourself a headache trying to remember to WHOM you've said WHAT! Be honest with yourself and others, including the Lord. Honesty brings you peace and self-respect. Being honest includes having the courage to do what you know to be right.

bullet Candle...Just as a candle in the darkness is a comfort and strength to those who seek it's light, the way you speak and the words you use can be a way to build and uplift those around you. Profane, vulgar, or crude language and inappropriate or off-color jokes are offensive to the Lord. Set a positive example for your friends and others by using clean language to express your feelings.

bullet Whistle...Remember that whatever you read, listen to or watch makes an impression on you. Blow the whistle on negative media influences in your life! Don't attend or participate in any form of entertainment, including concerts, movies and videocassettes, that is vulgar, immoral, inappropriate, suggestive or pornographic in any way. Don't be afraid to walk out of a movie, turn off the television, or change the radio or rid yourself of books or magazines that do not meet your Heavenly Father's standards.

bullet Granola Bar...The Lord has commanded that you keep your body, mind and spirit healthy. When you observe the Word of Wisdom and other good health practices, you remain free and have control over your life. You gain the blessings of an undefiled body, an alert mind, and the ability to receive help and support from your Heavenly Father through the Holy Ghost.

bullet Hymnbook...Music can help you draw closer to your Heavenly Father. Consider your listening habits thoughtfully and prayerfully. Shun music that is spiritually harmful! Don't listen to music that promotes Satanism, encourages immorality, uses foul and offensive language or drives away the Spirit.

bullet Water...Just as pure water will sustain physical life, the Lord requires self-control and sexual purity before marriage as well as full fidelity after marriage to sustain spiritual strength. The Lord specifically forbids certain behaviors, including all sexual relations before marriage, petting, homosexuality, rape, incest, masturbation or preoccupation with sex in thought, speech, or action. The scriptures tell us that, "they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:21)

bullet Tent...If you were exposed to the elements, a tent would provide protection. Likewise the Lord has given the Sabbath Day as protection for our spirits and our bodies. It is a day of rest from our labors and a day to worship the Lord, strengthen family relationships, help others and draw close to the Lord. The Sabbath is not a holiday. You should avoid seeking entertainment or spending money on this day. Also try to choose a job that doesn't require you to work on Sunday. Both your body and your spirit need this day of rest!

bullet Comforter...When you were confirmed a member of the Church, you received the right to the companionship of the Holy Ghost...also known as "the Comforter." He can help you make good choices. When challenged or tempted, you do not need to feel alone. The Holy Ghost will help you know right from wrong.

bullet Soap...Some people knowingly break God's commandments. They plan to repent before they go on a mission or before they go to the temple. It is better not to commit the sin. Some sins, such as sexual sins, are so serious that they can put your membership in the Church and your eternal life at risk. Where past choices have already led to serious sin, repentance is the way back. Like soap that cleanses your body, repentance cleanses your spirit. The miracle of forgiveness is real, and true repentance is accepted by the Lord! If you have sinned, the sooner you begin to make your way back, the sooner you will find the sweet peace and joy that come with the miracle of forgiveness.

bullet Lifesavers...One way you can show your love to others is through service. Be a lifesaver to another by loving them serving them, and being a light showing them the Lord's way. The Lord said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if you have love one to another." (John 13:35) You can render service more effectively if you maintain high standards. Always take a stand for the Lord's way. He has promised to help you as you live gospel standards.
