Please remember that I did get this from another
sister so I can only tell you what I am doing. We are getting testimonies from the
parents, the YW president of the individual wards, the camp director of the ward, the
stake president, the stake camp people, the YW general president and then using the
testimony from President Hinckley that I posted earlier. In addition to this we are
leaving blank pages for the girls to be able to write their testimonies in each others
books. Here is the letter that will be sent out to the parents...
Dear Parents,
For camp this year we are making personal testimony books
for each girl. Included in this book we would like to have your personal testimony
written to your daughter. We will be giving this special gift to the girls up at camp as a
reminder of what the church is to others around them and how important testimonies are to
each individual. We hope that this will help in making each girl's own testimony stronger.
We are requesting that each testimony be written as follows
- Write or type testimonies on standard weight ½ sheet of
paper. The exact horizontal measurement of the page should be 8 ½ inches, and the
vertical measurement should be 5 ½ inches.
- Write or type testimony horizontally on page, leaving a left
margin of ½ to ¾ inch on the left for binding.
- Sign and date your testimony.
- Parents (and other family members) with more than one
daughter in YW will need to submit one testimony for each daughter.
- Write the girl's name and her ward on a small piece of paper
and paperclip it to your testimony so those who assemble the books will know who the
testimony is for.
If you wish to do this please submit your testimony to us by
July 1st so we will have time to include it in their books. Feel free to send it before
that time. We thank you for your help in making this a memorable girls camp for your
daughter.
That hopefully will get most of them to have testimonies
from their parents. If we don't receive it the girls will still have lots to look
at. We had a few different ideas of putting the books together but really haven't
discussed it since I moved. I am going back for camp so we are doing a lot of this over
the phone now. When it was last discussed we talked about doing a wood cover that the
girls could decorate in crafts. We also discussed lamination.
I think you could just keep it basic and it will still be
special. For yours with leather it will look awesome! Have you considered having the girls
press the leather and then paint it? That would make a nice craft as well. I think I would
still laminate at least the first sheet to protect the holes from ripping. I am so glad to
hear about all these ideas!
