Traci Geary trac@mvnet.comOur theme for this year was S.O.S. Source of Strength. Each
ward in our stake chose a name that related to that theme, and ours was "Be a
Lifesaver". It was a nautical theme and all the wards in the stake had that type of
theme pretty much. The stake leaders held a "boot camp" one day with obstacle
course paint gun thing, a climbing wall, a zip line, etc. It was alot of fun! We do canoes
at the resevoire (sp?) one day, and we also did archery as a ward. Our 1st counselor in
the bishopric brought all of the stuff and taught us, it was fun as well. We had a great
speaker Friday night and testimony meeting as a ward which is always the best part of
camp...my humble opinion!
The stake gave out gold star pins to those who earned them
by doing a list of good deeds, scripture study, etc. while at camp. They also gave each of
the girls a bookmark with the theme on it. Our ward crafts were visors (cloth white ones
that the girls could decorate), we also made picture frames with those wooden frames from
the craft store and then the small tiles in different colors to make the frame look like
mosiac (I know I'm not explaining this too well, sorry)....we also made pajama pants
before we left for camp. Because our theme was "Be a Lifesaver" I made each of
the girls a Lifesaver doll out of a roll of lifesavers and left one on each girls pillow
one night before bed. We also found lifesaver suckers and left them each one in their
mailboxes. Our mailboxes were made out of small pringles cans and our camp leader put
paper on them to look like a roll of lifesavers and then printed out their names on
computer labels and put their names on them....they turned out really cute and the girls
took them home....and they were cheap!
