Camp Skits - You're the Star

| Contributed by: Debbie ddfish@nebonet.com (3/12/02) We
just did it last week and it went really well. We did it as a joint YM/YW activity.
We divided the kids into 6 groups. We had 6 brown grocery sacks full of
various props....for example, an old wig, dress up clothes, feather duster, rolling pin,
hair curlers, an old telephone, hair dryer, these are just some of the things I saw in the
bags we used, you can use anything around the house. In our case we assigned each
bag one of the six be's from President Hinckley. We attached a paper to the bag with
the assigned 'Be' written on it, but they couldn't see it until after they selected the
bag for their group. Anyway, because we were using the "Be's" as our
theme, we were sure to include something in the bag that would make a good prop for that
'Be'. Such as, in the bag for Be Smart, we included a pair of glasses and a
dictionary. We sent them to different areas of the building and gave them 25 minutes
to prepare their skits. Then we all met back in the cultural hall where they each
performed them for the rest of us. We have done this activity many times before, so you
don't have to assign a theme to them. Submitted by Melissa in Co - Mimimore@aol.com The skit bags are FULL of things that the girls can use in ANY way! The stake puts them together with the YCL's bringing things to add as well. Here are some examples of what I have seen in the past. Book of Mormon (always included in ALL bags) Different Outfits (the characters they come up with!) Power Ranger Gloves (came up with a hero) Cape (hero of course) Big Glasses Journal Play stove Books Personal Progress Book Camp Book Wigs Big Shoes Make-up Stuffed Animals Princess Wand This is just a few things used. They are also allowed to bring anything from their camp into the skit as well so that helps with more realistic things. As you can see it pretty much just leaves it up to the imagination! The girls have really loved doing this and as I said before we get both serious and funny skits out of these bags. It brings a lot of variety to the night. If there is more I can explain on this please e-mail me.
Submitted by: Annie in Idaho anniep@cyberhighway.net We did several fun skits this past year at camp so here are some ideas for the skit bags: 1. Getting ready for a date - this is where two or three girls are in front of a blanket sitting down and then behind them is the blanket and then two or three more girls who serve as their arms, and put the make up on them. Items for bag would be: mirrors, lipstick, eyeliner, eye shadow, blush, hair brushes, combs, hair spray or water in a spray bottle, etc. Blanket and any other ideas. 2. Job Interview - make it up as you go. Items for bag: Outrageous dress up clothes, wigs, note pads, pencils, name tags with positions, e.g. Boss, secretary, etc. 3. Midget chorus. - This is where you take stretch pants, bend your knees and then put your knee through the stretch pant first. This makes your look incredibly short and when done in a dance line and adding lib is hilarious. Items for bag. Big t-shirts, stretch pants, and other dress up items.
