Our
Flag
Red- Blood that was shed
White- Signifies the burning tears shed by Americans who lost their sons.
Blue Field- Indicative of God's heaven under which it flies.
The flag is a living symbol of America. It represents past, present and the future of our
country. It stands for men and women who built America. It represents the pilgrims setting
out to find a place to worship their God in their own way. It represents the men and women
who fought and died for our freedoms.
The 13 stripes represent the 13 states that gained our liberty. The stars represent the 50
states working and fighting to keep that liberty for themselves and generations to come.
The first official flag of the new nation -The United States of America- was "Old
Glory". It was created by a resolution of congress and passed on June 14, 1777. A
date we celebrate as Flag day every year. That flag waved over Fort McHenry when it was
bombarded September 13-14, 1814. It became the famous "Star Spangled Banner".
