Our Stake camp theme in 1999 was "Look for the Light". Each ward chose something that had to do with "light". Some were stars (I can't remember all of them, sorry) Our ward (Meadows Ward) took off from the stake theme and were the "Meadows Mariners on the S.S. Heavenbound". We made decorations that included a fabric lighthouse that hung on a tree with a lamp to shine at night, and a cardboard boat (just flat with the value colors in the windows. Our value assignment was white/faith and we wore white sailor hats and had dog tags made with each of the girl's nicknames on them and our camp theme. (our camp director had a connection to get the dog tags made for us)

I wrote this skit for our wards New Beginnings Program, and then used it again at Girls Camp. You might be able to use it for  YWIE.

Meadows Ward Camp Name: M.M. Heaven Bound

Value color: White

SETTING: Lighthouse and ship (enlarged and placed on side of stage with S.O.S. flag in ship)

Mariners or Sailors are dressed in white t-shirts, navy blue pants, white or navy blue keds, white sailor hats with blue anchors, white collars with stars in the value colors. ALL YW enter stage from two sides. (they’re mopping, coiling up rope, arm wrestling, dancing and singing to the tune of "Anchors Away My Boys")

Stand ladies out to sea,
Fight our battle cry
We’ll never change our course,
So vicious foe steer shy-y-y-y

Roll out the C-T-R
Anchors away
Sail on to victory,
The Lord is My Light, I’ll Choose The Right
Hoo-ray!

Admiral Attention! (the mariners come to attention fast, standing in rows, with the 7 value mariners in front. They are all facing the audience)

Admiral Ahoy mates. This is your Admiral speaking! I realize many of you are just beginning in your training here on our good ship "M.M. By keeping the flames of the values burning - We will not fail! 1st Mate WHITEY!

1st Mate (takes two steps forward and salutes straight ahead with the Admiral saluting back) 1st Mate WHITEY reporting - Sir - I - mean Ma‘am!

Admiral You are a daughter of our Heavenly Father who loves you, and I want you to have FAITH in his eternal plan! How are you doing that?

1st Mate Whenever I see WHITE clouds I think of the value FAITH. I‘ve been following the recommendations in our Personal Progress Book, Ma‘am, and I‘m working hard to have Faith on the job by reading my scriptures every single day! Admiral, Ma‘am

Admiral 2nd Mate BLUESKY!

2nd Mate (2 steps forward, salutes) BLUESKY reporting Ma‘am!

Admiral You - like each of us - have inherited divine qualities which you need to develop. Name those qualities and how you are developing them!

2nd Mate Whenever I see the blue ocean or the blue sky, I think of my DIVINE NATURE Ma‘am, and it reminds me to be more patient. I really try to do that Ma‘am - and also be kind to my fellow mates and look out for them. I‘m trying my best to be diligent in keeping the commandments, Ma‘am, and in reading my scriptures from the Instruction Book, Ma‘am.

5th Mate Oh yes Ma‘am, I do Ma‘am. And I think about that every time I see those ORANGE life jackets on ship. It reminds me of my CHOICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY. I‘m doing my best to make good choices and avoid the VERY APPEARANCE of evil! Ma‘am!
