Good Deed Tree

| Submitted by: Amy amy.chamberlain@ps.bellhowell.com I posted a camp friendshipping idea a few weeks ago that worked really well for us. We designated a tree to be our "Good Deeds Tree." Every night before our devotional, the camp director passed around pieces of paper (they were all "cuted up" in some way--I think they were angels or something?). The girls took one per good deed that they'd witnessed that day and wrote up each one. We asked them to write the good-deed-doer's name quite prominently. Then we hung the papers on the tree (each one had a loop of ribbon). The Good Deeds Tree became quite a serious part of our camp. It was amazing to watch the girls start to think seriously about how they could help others. Girls would stand around the tree, reading the papers and conferring quietly with each other. I watched some wonderful acts of service. By the end of camp, our tree was full of good deeds and the girls were very close to each other.
