Field of Dreams

| Submitted by: Ron and Jenny Stutz stutzr@hotmail.com We had the camp theme two years ago "Field of Dreams A League of Our Own". Our daily themes were: If you build it they will come (camp set up & teamwork, D&C 4:4, Matthew 11:28) Our Field of Dreams (How do we make our dreams come true, John 14:2-3, D&C 98:18) Go the Distance (4th years arrive, sticking to your goals, 2 Nephi 31:20) Ease His Pain (By coming unto Christ, keeping the commandments, and repenting from our sins, we lessen what he has to suffer for us, Isaiah 53:4-7, Hebrews 6:4-6) Making it "home" (we talked about going home ((it's always great to go home after camp)) and returning home to our Heavenly Father, Alma 40:11-12) Names: 1st Years: Rookies 2nd Years: Sluggers 3rd Years: Grand Slammers 4th Years: Big Leaguers JC's: All-Stars Stake Staff: Hall of Famers Ward Staff: Team Managers Fire Ring: Dug out Kitchen: Consession Stand Table area: Training Tables Nurses Station: First Aid Team Cooks Tent: Nutritional Team Food Storage: Authorized Personel Only Priesthood Tent: Men's Locker Room We gave out Big League Gum to the 4th Years when they arrived from their hike. We made baseball cards for each girl. It was a lot of work but the girls liked them. We took a picture of each girl holding a bat or mitt and pasted it (by computer) onto a picture of Coors Field (Colorado Rockies field). We put their "stats" on it, too. It had their name, level, ward, and phone number. They could trade them with other girls or friend they met at camp. We ordered baseball t-shirts for each person and had names put on the back for the stake staff and JC's. Most had their nicknames put on. We had pennants silk screened by a sister in our stake that said "Go the Distance" and were attached to sticks. We had two JC's do the skit "Who's on First" as part of a campfire program the first night. Our theme song was "Go the Distance" from Disney's Hercules; the version sung by Michael Bolton. Each ward or group made up their own version to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" as their roll call. We gave out good deeds awards called MVP (Most Valuable Player) which were di-cut baseballs. The leaders wore umpire aprons that had pockets with the di-cuts in them and we handed them out when we saw good deeds. The girls traded them in for a treat at the beginning of campfire programs. Baseball is a fun theme! Good luck! Graphics by: Jackie's Graphics |
