Okay....here's my beginning thoughts for our girls camp this year!

Our theme is taken after "Title of Liberty", and it will be close to the 4th of July! So we chose to do "Daughters of Liberty".

Here's my idea.....
D.aughters
O.f
L.iberty

DOL...like DOLL.... and a saying like..."I'm a living D.O.L." on their T-shirts

And instead of doing the usual RED WHITE AND BLUE colors, we would use Powder Puff pink, white, and Powder puff blue!

We were planning on spotlighting great women who have helped achieve great things for our country etc....

Note from Lori:

My first thought is how cool it would be for the girls each to make their own title of liberty flag, or by groups...It is one of my most favorite parts of the B of M. Moroni is my hero.

I love the idea and when I was in YW we did something similar to that. I can't remember everything we did but we did make our own title of liberty. We made one as a group together before camp after deciding what our values/beliefs were and that one was the flag we hung at our camp site then we each made individual titles of liberty near the end of camp after learning more about the power of our beliefs and the power of a daughter of God who follows His teachings.

I love the "doll" idea too. Our girls would really like that :) It would also give you something fun to work with for handouts etc. At our camp we also had people who portrayed strong women in the church and in the country. They came dressed in the correct period and talked to us as if they were that person and told us about their experiences and how they had to decide what they believed and stand up for it. It seems like those women were placed along the hiking trail so every so often we would come to a clearing or a place where one of the women would talk to us along the way.

We made two different kinds of Title of Liberty. One we did with torn pieces of muslin and magic markers and had the girls write their testimonies on them and then they attached them to their backpacks. We did this on the hike and the girls got quite a neat reaction when they hiked back in to camp with their Title of Liberty. We also did some edible ones with those huge plastic pixie sticks and fruit leather.
