Celestial Navigators
Truth our Guiding Star
Ephesians 5:1-2, 8-9

Tuesday - Gaze Upward: Possible doctrine principles to teach: The importance of knowing God lives and we are His daughters.  Christ or truth is our North Star - constant, true and a guiding light, look upward and live, eternal perspective.  Who am I?   (Faith, Divine Nature)

From our theme I see that we are on a journey.  What does it mean to navigate?   Where do we want to go, our destination?  (To find Christ, to come unto Him, to the Celestial Kingdom.)  First day we gaze upward to see who we are and where we are going.  Now that we know where we are going we need to know who we are (we are literally a child of God who has taken unto us the name of Christ) and what qualities do we have that will take us on this journey. And what tools are needed to help guide us on the journey (North Star, Holy Ghost)

Handouts with glow in the dark stars.  Tell them that these stars need light from the sun to glow.  The farther and longer they stay away from the sun the dimmer they got until all light was gone.  Compare to the light of the Son.  We need to draw close to the Son to have light in our lives.  The longer we go without communication or the farther we got from His teachings would cause us to loose our light.  We will glow with the light of Christ when we know who we are, why we are here and come unto Christ.

Possible words for the day: Sun, North Star, one of your own.

Scriptures:

Psalms 82:6, John 8:12, Romans 8:16-17, Galatians 3:26, 1 Nephi 17:13, 1 Nephi 17:36, 3 Nephi 11:10-11, D&C 20:17-19, D&C 50:41-44, Moses 2:26-27

Wednesday - Look Inward: Possible gospel principles to teach: Is our testimony of Christ strong enough to withstand the storms of life? Learning to recognize and understand the Spirit, strengthen our testimony, recognize the Spirit, and come unto Christ, Why am I here? Where am I in my course? (Individual Worth, Knowledge) Analyze. Compass. Mirror.

Are we securely tied to Christ, do we have a strong enough testimony to withstand the storms? (Picture a balloon on a long string and a brisk wind.)

Thursday - Reach Outward: Possible gospel principles to teach: Willing to sacrifice and serve others, importance of unity, building friendships and loving others. Buoying each other up through service and sacrifice.  How these qualities will build unity at camp and help them in their future roles as wives, mothers, and leaders.  What shall I do? (Good Works)

Another idea is how we can be united, love and serve others as we help each other stand of truth and righteousness.  Share the story about crabs, when they are all in a bucket and one tries of climb out, the others grab him and pull him back down with them.  You could relate this to Laman and Lemuel who would try and pull Nephi down, even beating him up. Then apply it to the girls today with possible ways we can buoy each other up and be a lifesaver, instead of being like crabs and pulling each other down.

Possible words for the day: Pine Tree, Buoy, or any word of your choice.

That peace comes in keeping the commandments and following ChristHow can I do it? (Choice & Accountability, Integrity).
