Get in the Game: For Mother Nature (spiritual class for the
day) the focus was Heavenly Fathers Game plan. We are already on the team but to
really GET IN THE GAME and keep from sitting on the bench we need to know the RULES (found
in the scriptures). Once we know the rules we need to be in shape. The spiritual
comparison was made to the physical aspects of being in shapestrength, endurance,
flexibility, skill, and nutrition.
Lastly we need to think about our priorities
number one
priority being our relationship with our Heavenly Father. The "bead" was a
little foam hand, pointer finger raised, with #1 written on it. (Like those big foam #1
hands you see at games.)
Attitude is Everything: Mother Nature today boiled down to
two things, what attitude is and isnt and being our own cheerleader. You dont
hear cheerleaders say, "David, David, hes our man, if he cant do
it
we are not surprised because hes lousy and cant hang on to the
ball." So why are we so negative towards our selves? The bead was a little megaphone.
Cover Your Bases: Comparisons were made between each base in
a baseball game. First base=scripture study and prayer. Second Base=using your agency
wisely. Third base=relationships. Almost Home=AGAIN! (returning home to Heavenly Father.)
At the end was read The Parable of the Popcorn
and the bead was a little tiny bag of unpopped popcorn.
The Best is Yet to Come: Our Stakies started this Mother
Nature with the following song:
You Are His Children (Tune from We Are the
Champion)
You are his children my friends, So please keep on striving
tell the end.
Now that camps over, Don't change your team side.
You've got the power to keep that good spirit... alive.
Cause you are his children my friends.
So please keep on striving tell the end.
You are his children, you are his children.
No one can change that cause you've got the power... to withstand!
Then the following quote was memorized and recited to the
girls:
You are a royal generation. The Heavenly Grandstands are
cheering you on. We are fast coming to the close of this game. The opposition is
real and is scoring. But we have scored, we are scoring, and we will score in the
future. The Lord is our coach and Manager. His team will win and we can be a
valiant part of it if we so desire. Rise up, O youth of Zion! You hardly realize
the great divine potential that lies within you. May you all follow your leader,
Jesus Christ, and increase mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially. Ezra Taft
Benson
The spirit was incredible! It was an AWESOME way to end
camp!!!
