Widow's Mite

Underline and discuss Mark 12:42-44, Luke 21:2-4  Also point out the fact that it is not always money that the Lord is asking us to give.

Mark l2:42-44

42 - "And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 - "And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say   unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasure;
44 - For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."

Luke 21:2-4

2 - "And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites
3- And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:
4 - For all they have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God; but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had."

For a doo-dad in two pennies, drill a hole in the top and put on a key chain ring.  Start with the following idea, John H. Vandenberg "a certain poor widow who there in only two mites was used as an illustration by the Savior to show His disciples that a grateful heart is the true course for giving thanks. She was willing to give all she had; by giving, she was receiving the more precious gift. Thus we see it is an individual matter. The widow's mite was more acceptable to God than the more pretentious but partial offering of the other man."
