Submitted by: Cindy Wright Wrightkc@aol.com   Great activity to reinforce Lesson 15 - The Melchizedek Priesthood

We played "Who Wants to be a Celestial Heir? based off the TV game show. I  used six levels - Faith, Repentance, Baptism/Confirmation, Temple Marriage, Endure to the End and Celestial Life. I asked questions based off the lesson material and then provided 4 answers. There were three lifelines - scriptures (45 seconds time limit), audience (other YW) and CTR (50/50). I had one YW come up and began the game. Each time they answered a question, I gave a candy prize. I started small with the first being a life saver, then bubble gum ... up to a regular size candy bar. Only one girl made it to the candy bar. Since we only had time for 4 YW to have a turn, I had small snack size candy bars for all, but then promised we'd do it again sometime and have the other YW be contestants.

There are 4 questions for each category. The correct answers are in bold. I mostly used the lesson manual, but also read through Gospel Doctrine and a few scriptures for a few questions (e.g., Noah).

We did this as a combined YW only activity, and it was a hit, although with large groups you might want to have a couple of games going on at once, since only one person is playing at a time (except for the "fast finger" questions).

We started with "fast finger" questions, like "put the following books of the Bible in the order that they appear", or "put the following Apostles in the order that they were called". Each YW had cards with A, B, C, or D on them, and the first one to put the answers in the correct order and stand up got to be the contestant in the "hot seat". After a while, we alternated "fast finger" rounds with just drawing names out of a hat because we had some nonmembers and new YW that we wanted to be sure to include.

In the hot seat, the contestant had three multiple-choice questions: one "telestial", one "terrestrial", and one "celestial", each with increasing difficulty. There was one lifeline: they could either ask a member of the bishopric, or they could ask the audience (all the YW would hold up the letter of the answer they chose). The contestant could stop at any point, or try to go for the celestial question. We let nonmembers or new YW have two lifelines.

The telestial question was awarded one piece of small candy (tootsie roll, peppermint candy, etc.). The terrestrial question was awarded I think like 2 or 3 pieces of small candy (can't remember!). The celestial question was awarded ten pieces of really great candy (Snickers, Bubble Yum, etc. - we used fun size bars). It was lots of fun - we have the millionaire game on CD-ROM and my husband was able to isolate the music so we could use it as background music.
