Update: Jaclyn is now 22 years old, married and the mother of an 8
month old and now serving in the YW program :-)
I'm our laural class president in my ward and I am on
the youth committee in our stake. Our theme this year is "Unite to make a
difference"... Our stake is very clicky so we're working towards getting the wards
mixed up and hopefully these games will work well. I hope this may be of some help.
HAND GAME: The youth sit around a table or lay on
their stomachs on the floor. Everyone puts both of their hands in front of them and
puts their right hand over the left hand of the person on your right. Someone in the
circle starts by tapping his or her hand once on the ground/table. The next hand
taps either once or twice. If they tap once, then the next hand taps once or
twice. As long as someone taps once play goes the same direction. When someone
taps twice the direction is reversed. If someone messes up, then his or her hand,
the one that tapped out of turn, is removed from play. Play goes on until 2 people
are left.
PEOPLE FIND: Everyone is given the same sheet with certain characteristics that other
people may have. Each person must try and find another person with that
characteristic and get them to write their name down. In the end everyone is
gathered together. People with completed sheets bring them up to the front. The
people who signed their name under a description are called to the front. They have
to show everyone that they can do the characteristic in which they signed for.
Prizes are optional.
ELBOW TAG: All of the youth pair off in twos and link arms. Everyone forms a
circle. Two people are in the middle, the person who is it and the person who is
being chased. They play a regular game of tag except the person who is being chased
runs around and links arms with one of the couples. When they link onto someone then
the person who is on the other side of the person they linked arms with has to run and be
chased.
TWISTER: Set up a giant twister board, whatever size, however many youth.
CRAB SOCCER: Separate everyone into two teams. Pick a goalkeeper for each
team. The goalkeeper is the only one that can use their hands and stand on their
knees. Everyone else must be on their hands and feet like a crab and only use their
feet to kick the ball (beach ball). Two goals are set up at each end of the cultural
hall.
ALLEY/FIRE ESCAPES: Have the youth line up in a few rows and have them face so that when
they turn 90=B0 they are in a row but in a different direction. Have the youth
hold hands with the people to the sides of them. Have a leader yell out
"Allies!" When this happens everyone turns 90=B0 and hold hands
again. When the leader yells "Fire Escapes!" then everyone turns back how
they were. One person is it and someone is being chased. They have to run
through the allies and fire escapes while the other youth are following the commands of
the leader. The leader also needs to switch up who is it and who is being chased so
that others will get a turn.
THE WHIP: Everyone holds hands in one big line (about 10-15 people one whip). The
person at the beginning of the line starts running in circles and in zigzags while the
other people being dragged along are whipped around the room. This may get to wild
though, but it is a lot of fun and tons of laughs!

loops.

mouth.
