Materials

- 'Jenga' building blocks

- 1 x die

- milk bottle rings (left on milk bottle after screw-tops break off) as many as you can get (my neighbors collect these for me).

- Small toys as accessories e.g. legos, coloured blocks, McDonald toys for use in tabernacle structure.

- Long table & small table

- Divider (cardstock approx 14" high and the width of table)

- small candles (7 per team) for sacred candlestick

- cubed desk paper (for labeling)

Requirement

- Divide class to 2 teams or more (depending on class number).

- Two teams per table (one at each end).

- Put up divider across table (width-wise) to block teams from viewing each other's building structure.  (Remember they're building this from memory).

- Put building items on separate table beside the big one.

Question category (1-6 as per dots on the die)

1 dot - Keyword

2 dots - Scripture Reference

3 dots - Choice

4 dots - Complete sentence (as per scripture square questions)

5 dots - Historical Setting

6 dots - Memorization

Purchase Power

If they give the correct answer they qualify for the following items.

1 - Keyword (1 block)

2 - Scripture Ref (2 blocks)

4 - Complete sentence (2 blocks + 1 accessory item)

5 - Historical Setting (2 blocks + 2 accessory items)

6 - Memorization (3 blocks + 3 accessory items)

Bonus Points

- Every 5 minutes we had a bonus points question where teams can qualify for extra building materials (it's worth two items and they choose whether it be blocks or accessory). I used a timer for this.

How to Play

a. To begin the game, each team roll the die. The team with the highest number starts, followed by the next highest etc. etc.

b. The first team roll the die and whatever number of dots they get, will be asked a question in that category, e.g. Keyword (What's the keywords for Moses 1:39, or Abraham 3:22-23, or Leviticus 19:18 etc.) If they give the correct answer they get to choose a block.

c. If a team gives the wrong answer, the next team in line gets a turn & they choose whether to give the answer to the question the other team got wrong or roll the die for a new question.

Condition

- Teams can only give one answer only. They can consult amongst themselves, but only one answer is given.

- Teams can trade-in their building items for different items, e.g. if they answer correctly a Keyword question and qualify for 1 x block, they can give back the 1 x block and roll the die again for the opportunity to try for another prize (a 4 dot question or 5 dot question). Of course there is a risk here in that they may not get the right answer for the second question.

- Tabernacle is complete when all items are in their right places, and correctly labeled including the parallel to Telestial, Terrestrial and Celestial kingdoms. (Items - altar of sacrifice, laver, sacred candlestick, oil, table of shewbread, spoons, dishes, covers, loaves of bread, wine, altar of incense, coals, Ark of the covenant, veil. Labels - Outer courtyard, Holy Place, Veil, Holy of Holies, Telestial, Terrestrial, Celestial)

The Winner

The team that correctly completes the tabernacle structure within the 40-min lesson time or earlier is the winner.

The Judge

Our Bishop and his counselors were the judge of whether the tabernacle structure was correct or not.
