I don't know if any other stakes apart form ours do this, ( I'm sure they do)
but we have a stake youth in perspective video every year, which is shown at youth
convention. Member's of the stake youth leaders, youth's parents or youth, have the
responsibility of taking a video camera to stake youth events and other events like
roadshows, variety shows etc and filming the youth 'in action'. At the end of the year,
the video is edited ( local school's can help here usually) and then shown at the stake
centre during the Saturday of youth convention. It has always been a big success,
especially when we see Deacon and Beehive day, young men and young women's camps as well
as other fun activities. One of the amusing things, is seeing how much people change
within a year and how much people can play up to the camera!
Filming usually starts from youth convention ( usually in September in our stake) and
finishes at the last stake event in august the following year). We have had year in
perspective films now in our stake since 1992 (?) and they have been made available for
copying, so that people can have their own copies at home. In our home we have all of them
up the year 2000, so far, and even though none of our family were part of the youth
program until 1996, we still enjoy seeing other known friends when they we in the youth!
It really is a great project! Currently, " other laurels and myself in our ward are
in charge of filming for this years year in perspective video, and we can hardly wait
until youth convention so relive the memories of our past year of the youth program!
Of course, videos can be made just in a ward context, as part of a laurel project, some of
our former laurels made a 'Lowestoft Ward youth year in perspective video' When I was just
12! Of the scariness! (LOL) That too was a great success.
I hope these ideas are ok. I thought it might be nice for a little something from England!
