We met at an outdoor location, just for fun, and told the girls if they came they would get a shirt.  We started with a guest speaker who, relating everything to modesty, spoke on three ideas...trust, believe and inspire.  She was awesome!!!  She started by laying a rope on the ground.  She related the concept that one side of the line was the Lord's side and the other side of the line was Satan's side.  She said that we get to choose which side of the line we stand on and also how close we get to the line.  She had a volunteer come down and stand just barely on the Lord's side of the line and she stood on Satan's side.  She showed how easy it is to pull someone over when they are within reach.

Then she had the young woman stand far to the Lord's side and tried to reach her but couldn't.  She related how we can get closer and closer to the line in our dress without actually crossing over and then suddenly, without hardly even realizing it we are pulled to Satan's side.  Then she laid out a rope crossways to the rope showing the division between the Lord's side and Satan's side.  She called eight volunteers from the
audience and put four on each side.  She took aside two girls from the Lord's side and spoke to them privately.  Then they lined up for a tug of war.  When it looked as though the girl's on the Lord's side were going to win, the two girls who had been taken aside ran around to Satan's side and began to help them.  Needless to say Satan's side won the tug of war.

The speaker then called up the two girls who had switched sides and told us that she had shown them each a ten dollar bill and told them that if they helped on Satan's side that she would give it to them.  However instead of giving them the ten dollar bills she had shown them, she gave them a printed piece of paper that was a bill for ten dollars, indicating that each girl now owed our speaker ten dollars.  She said that Satan uses this trick all the time.

She then told us that we can never trust that Satan will be true to his word.  He will always deceive us to get us to do what he wants and that not only will we not get what we thought we wanted, we will also be forced to pay a price for placing our trust in him.  She then put two boxes of candy on the ground on Satan's side of the line and said that the first two girls to get there could have them.  We had a few girls rush down, but then one of them backed off and asked if there were going to be consequences.  She said yes, and picked up the boxes and showed us the backs.  On one was a card that said, "More fun." and on the other was a card that said, "Popularity".

She said these are the things that Satan promises with immodesty.  Then she told the girls to pass them around.  In one was beans and in the other was rice.  There were also cards inside the boxes that said, "Pain" and "Disappointment".  Then she got about 5 packages of candy out, and said that if we keep the commandments and keep our standards up, if we ask for one package of candy then Heavenly Father will give us them all.  All that he has to give will be ours.

She spoke about setting examples and inspiring our friends through our actions.  Then she spoke about believing in our Savior, and our Heavenly Father, and believing the things the prophet tells us.  She spoke about the things the prophets has asked us to do regarding modesty and attire and personal appearance.  She spoke about proper standards concerning swimsuits, pants, skirts, and tops.  She also talked a
little about sitting modestly in skirts and dresses. I don't want this to sound the wrong way, but when choosing our guest speaker we chose one of the most beautiful women in town who is always immaculately groomed and dressed.  We wanted someone that the girls looked
up to and could see as looking like someone they would like to look like.

After our speaker we played a video where one of the women in our presidency had gone and interviewed a bunch of the boys in the high school.  She went into a seminary class and asked them what they thought of girls dressing immodestly and how it made them feel.  The most common answer was that it made them feel uncomfortable and that they didn't like being around girls dressed immodestly.  The girls, for the most part, were a little surprised by their answers.

Then we had our refreshments and gave everyone a cute but modest shirt that said, "Modest is the hottest"  Our guest speaker had also made necklaces for everyone, each one with a different word she had focused on, trust, believe, or inspire.  The girls loved it and shared a lot of stories with us about different things they had heard around school and ways they had been treated by guys at school.  Some who respected them for their standards and some who were not so nice about it.  It was neat to have them open up a little more than usual and let us know more what their high school experience is really like and the challenges they face, which are much, much tougher than what was going
on in my high school about 12 or 13 years ago.
