HEART OF GOLD

Materials Needed:
1. Two raw eggs
2. One bowl
3. Paper towel

Presentation:

1. Before class, make pinholes (I used a bulletin board tack) in both ends of one egg. Blow out the yolk and white and allow inside of the egg to dry. Roll the other egg in dirt or grease so that it appears quite undesirable. (I put Elmers Glue all over and then rolled it in dirt).

2. In class, hold up both eggs and ask which one the class members would like to eat. (They will most likely select the hollow "clean" egg.)

3. After the selection is made, crush the clean shell in your hand, revealing its hollowness.

4. Follow this up by cracking the dirty egg into the bowl, revealing a "heart of gold."

Lesson Application:

1. We should not judge other by outward appearances; it can often be misleading. It is important to look for the "heart of gold" in everyone!

Simple as it was, the girls are still talking about it (even my own daughter!).
