The scripture in the new testament that talks about the armor of God (I think it is the last chapter in Ephesians) talks about how we battle with principalities of darkness etc. Just as there are forces for good on the earth that are organized to build the kingdom etc. there are organized forces for evil that have calculated plans for destroying the souls of our youth and adults. Much of the media is a part of these calculated plans for weakening us. There is a dangerous attitude that says "Oh this won't hurt me" by both youth and adults, but I'll bet that there is not a person who has fallen into transgression that has not participated in some questionable form of media.

Another good resource is in Galatians 5 where it talks about the fruits of the spirit and the works of the flesh. It basically spells out the differences and is a great teaching tool.

The reason that you were invited to speak on the topic is probably because you have a great testimony of it and can help inspire them to make wise choices.  Don't apologize for the guidance we have received. Don't underestimate the youth of the latter days. They WANT to do what is right and have valiant spirits underneath the scary exteriors that we sometimes get to experience. Just remind them who they are and when they remember that they will have the strength to shun the plans of the adversary.
