Contributed by: Cyndi We are doing a two part activity, we had the first part 2 weeks ago,
where the girls wrote their testimony on a draft piece of paper. We had taken an 8X11
piece of white paper and marked it off so that we could make 4 bookmark out of the piece
of paper. We had previous chosen several scriptures that were written on slips that would
also fit on the bookmark. The girls had to write their testimony on each of the 4
bookmarks on the draft with the scripture above it then we ran off several.
This week we are using stamps to decorate the top border of
the bookmark and put ribbons on them. These will be given to the ward members for a
Christmas present from the YW.
Then last week we did the Article of Faith Ice Cream bar,
with a twist. It is suggested that you have booths that they go to and recite each article
of faith to get a topping, bowl ,ice cream etc. We know that even though we gave our youth
almost 7 weeks notice and reminders of this activity that their would be people who
couldn't recite an Article of Faith. So some booths were word unscrambles, some were word
searches, some were which Article of Faith is about Revelation?, some fill in the blank,
some recite, some puzzle form, etc. We made it somewhat easy to get the bowl, spoon,
napkin and first scoop of ice cream, to get the second or third scoop was more difficult
and work on their part.
The booths were not in order of the Articles of Faith, and
we took the first 3 booths and groups people in 123, 312, 231 and this is the order they
went to the first three booths so that they were not all at the same booths at the same
time and hearing each others answers. Then they went to the rest of the booths 4-13 in
correct order. Most of the booths had the questions written on a slip of paper so they had
to write answers down, so others couldn't hear it so they would recite in our ear.
The YW were in charge of this activity and we had 3 people
manning the booths and it worked great. 4 booths were in the kitchen, the 3 ice cream
booths, and bowl booth. Then I handle 4 booths and another person handle 5 booths. I think
the youth learned a lot if they didn't remember their Article of Faith.
