WhiteAMNESTY PROGRAM
We presented a lesson on dress standards and our closing
speaker was our bishop. He challenged the girls to participate in an "Amnesty
Program" which was simply to turn in to him any clothing of theirs that was
inappropriate or immodest. We then had a Bishops BBQ the next month on our regular
activity night and burned all of the clothing after a short ceremony. This was done in his
backyard.
We then read a declaration that I will list below. Each YW
signed it (her choice) and we framed it and it will hang in our YW room. I took a photo of
each girl signing it and we will use these for a future bulletin board display. (I had
double prints made and each YW will be presented with one also)
Most of the girls turned in clothing and those who
didnt definitely paid attention and were thoughtful during the Bishops closing
comments. They have been better about what theyre wearing and had a great time at
our "Bonfire". Good Luck!
(Declaration)
As the Young Women in the _______________Ward, we will
strive for modesty in both thought and action. We will continually try to be worthy
daughters of our Heavenly Father by choosing appropriate and modest behavior. We desire to
be able to Stand as A Witness of God at all times, and in all places, and by choosing
clothing and behavior that are exemplary.
We want to continually show respect for our bodies and those
around us. By choosing modest and appropriate clothing we show our Heavenly Father we
desire to follow him. By making righteous choices, we can be worthy of the blessings that
He has in store for us.
